DUI charges dropped. Unbelievable but not surprising. Is there no end to this crap UGA is doing. I hope and pray all this comes crashing down on Kirby. But I doubt it.
In a similar situation, is this not a common outcome for someone with a clean record, access to the best lawyers, and accepts a plea deal for a lesser charge? Are we sure that UGA was or even needed to be involved in this? I'd guess that this kind of result occurs every day in that same courthouse.
Well Kirby's probably done it 1000 times, and his players have probably done it 10,000 times, so what's one more?
I do not remember the details but was clear something was amiss, right? Wasn't he speeding excessively and evaded the officer? Charges would not be brought unless their was evidence, likely video and a police report. Perhaps video evidence did not exist or the officer wrote reports so that something stood out and allowed dismissal? Legitimate crime charges cannot just drop without lack of evidence, especially if alcohol(public safety) is involved. Whatever leeway was given to ETN should be given to other defendants.
Unless things have changed a lot . . . you don't get the sweetheart deal when you fail to stop, like I understand ETN did. You get evading arrest (or the equivalent) tacked on, at least. You also don't get it when there is excessive speed involved. The situation could have easily been catastrophic. If this was a normal situation I'd tend to agree but the LegHumpers are and have been so dirty they get no benefit of doubt from me.
I feel like you are not accurately depicting how the legal system works for people with expensive lawyers. I'm not arguing that he got off light, but I'm not so freely willing to tack this on to UGA as being dirty without proof. This seems like a wealth and fame privilege as opposed to the school getting involved. I've heard of regular people getting out of charges like this also, FWIW.
Catastrophic like he has an accident at a high rate of speed and kills couple people while drunk then leaves the scene while his friends bleed out to protect his draft status....I wonder how much time he would get for that? Probably no time and U Georgia would handle it internally.
And to top it off two UGA players were arrested for speeding and reckless driving in the past two days. It may never end.
Kirby will take a page out of Mike Gundy’s playbook and punish Etienne by giving him 50 carries Week 1
(Not So) Smart is the one who wrote the book on cheating and running a dirty program in a corrupt town. Bowden wrote the preface.
Yeah those have been the only 2 coaches to ever cheat and run dirty football programs in their towns in college football history. We literally just had a coach a few days ago scoff at his star running back getting a DUI arrest and brag about how he had zero plans to punish him, I guess he learned from Smart and Bowden too LOL.
