I am curious what people's thoughts are if Trump wins the election. What is the right move if Trump wins the election and democracy hangs in the balance?

Can you elaborate on what you mean when you say democracy hangs in the balance?

Where is the "Lie about the results and promote a fake slate of electors" option?

You might think so, but the "Trump is an existential threat" narrative is real. Real people believe it, and there are a lot of them. As the Vox author of of the article I linked above says, "A strategy, any strategy, might make people or groups uncomfortable cannot be a reason not to pursue it in the face of an existential threat. Not if you believe what you’re saying."

How those people who believe Trump is an existential threat would react to Trump winning the presidency is a very real question that is worthy of discussion. I gave legitimate poll options for the discussion. Everyone has a legitimate way to vote. Discussion of the topic is open. Just look at this thread as a real discussion of the topic.

Words... not reality. But somehow those words were against the law in the eyes of the totalitarians.

But this thread is a trick question with the wrong answer from which to choose. WE HAVE NEVER BEEN A DEMOCRACY...

We The People of The United States of America have always lived in a CONSTITUTIONAL REPUBLIC.

The question is in the eye of the beholder. Whatever people mean when they say "Trump is an existential threat" or "Trump is a threat to democracy." That could mean different things to different people.

The issue would most likely be when it's time for Trump to leave office, as we saw in 2020.

I think we should just do what Trump and his MAGAs did in Jan 2021 and attempt a coup by invading the Capitol.

And since he would have already had his two turns the most likely scenario is he hand picks someone to be the pub nominee. If they get through the primary process which would be a better than average chance.

Other: Hope the risks Trump poses come to little or nothing, but ensure effects are in order to expatriate by 2028 if it seems necessary.

The practical thing to do if Trump is elected is to wait and see what he does. When he starts acting unconstitionally, the best solution would be a military coup to save democracy, removing Trump and holding a new election. Unfortunately this won't happen, however, because one of the first things Trump will do is fill the joint chiefs of staff with loyalists. So the really practical thing to do is accept the fact that the country asked for exactly what it got.

You missed: evaluate actual erosion to democracy while he is president, primarily the ability to remove him or limit his power as necessary”.

we know the Senate will not be able to convict him.

OP should have switched parties; that is the OP question should be if the dem nom wins, will maga riot. A quick reminder - maga were the ones who stormed the capital beating LEO men and women and literally looking for gov leaders to kill. All specifically because Dear Leader lost. Maga are the ones threatening civil war.

This might be a good example of only getting info from far right sources and of course Dear Leader himself.

    Trump supporters call for riots

A people freely electing a malignant narcissist who is not only a pathological liar (you won't be able to believe a single thing he says in office) but a traitor. I'm not a historian. Has there ever been a bigger folly in the history of politics?

I'd be more concerned with the "stopping at 2 terms" thing.

Move to France should be on the list. Also relocate to Canada or the northern Pacific Coast of Mexico.
