This kid is in my son's old Boy Scout troup and has been big for a while and is now listed at 6' 10", 295 and will be a SR at Dunedin HS. I just asked his dad how's he doing in football and he said he camped at UF and was pulled aside and put in the "Prospects" group.

No, sir. Our 6'6" OT are the shrimps of the group. This staff seems to think the taller the better.

Big boy for sure! Pinellas County on the whole isn't exactly a hotbed of talent whether it be individually or from a team standpoint. It's been a long long time since Dunedin was on anyone's radar screen for football in the state of Florida (played for a state title in 1986 and 1987), and the schedule they play doesn't help much either. I believe the last big time OL to come out of Dunedin was 1981 John Inota (sp?), his son or grandson last year didn't even play at Dunedin (played at Clearwater Calvary Christian) and was eventually signed by Alabama as a 3*.

I watched his hudl clips from last year and knowing the level of competition he was facing, I came away with the following thoughts. Physically dominating in the run game, pass protection he appeared stiff as well as with his foot speed. Was never really pushed because of the level of competition he faced. Can't teach size like his, so doing the camp circuit is a excellent approach! Will allow college coaches to see him go against better competition, to better evaluate and project his potential.

What is a prospects group, the coveted or the wait and see how it goes?

Joey was actually a senior at Dunedin for the 1983 season, I had forgotten about Joey playing as John had gotten my attention for that 1981 season...(they were brothers). I remember John primarily due to the 2nd round playoff game in 1981, as Dunedin played Orlando Evans that had Jammie Dukes and Jeff Zimmerman on its OL. For HS ball in the early 80's that was some collection of OL talent on one field as all 3 were highly recruited OL for that recruiting cycle.

I think GG was listed at 6'9. However he was never a big contributor. Mad Max. And Stone certainly were.

I believe we had a guy named Russell Gallon that was 6'9" or 6'10" under Charlie Pell!

It's crazy to think with some of the height we're bringing in now that big Trenton Brown doesn't look like a giant at just about 6'9(technically 6'8 and a half) and 370lbs. I remember whe we got him as a juco transfer, didn't do a ton here but went on to become the highest paid Olineman in the league when he signed with Gruden and the raiders after winning a SB trophy with Tom Brady.

He was terrific when he played here, it was just a shame he only had 2 years to do so.
