Please don’t take this as a personal shot. I do not say this in sarcasm. I have watched Biden operate since the early 80’s. The media has always portrayed him as a likable “man of the people” type. But going all the way back to Judiciary meetings in the 80’s the arrogance, dismissiveness and condescension to those who don’t fall in line have been on full display. That is not leadership, but it is Biden.
At this point, the James Carvilles and David Axelrods of the world…..you know the people regarded as mastermind campaign tacticians and strategists are not only calling for Biden to go, but spending more time discussing strategic ways the Dems could replace him. Neither men are idiots. They are quite savvy, even if I disagree with their politics. Their speciality is winning and the Dems have leaned on them for years. They’re not even entertaining a scenario where Biden stays in and somehow wins. They’re also not afraid to spin spin spin their way to a victory. They’re not even trying. It’s all about “how do we replace him”?
I lead a staff of 200 professionals. My staff isn’t asked to be loyal. I ask them to be professional, effective, and honest. Not loyal.
Exactly. Loyalty to the constitution and loyalty to an individual are not the same thing. It isn't the damned mafia.
Whatever happens, those Democrats need to 100% back him or politely move him on. It's the division and drip-drip-drip of dissent that will slowly eat them up...
Bernie may still be listed as an Indy, however he ran for POTUS both times as a Dem and said if elected he you serve as a Dem. Seems like he wants to be a Dem and is an Indy in name only.
I think the only thing keeping his poll numbers up is his opponent. I’m curious what real polling shows for the battleground states. IMO, Biden is not going to suddenly become more popular as trustworthy in the next few months. Trump, depending on who he selects as VP, might. (On a side note, I read the Trump,Jr is vigorously opposed to his father selecting Rubio because, and ya can’t make this up, he thinks the “RINOs” will be comforted enough with Rubio to impeach his father.)
He has been a white house consult for 12 years. His bio lists him as "the physician to the president through 2022”. He is t some rando expert that was brought in as a consult. Not saying it cant be as you say, but i think that may be a stretch.
For those of you who don't think Biden is finished, check the post-debate polling out Pennsylvania. All of them beyond the margin of error. A state Biden can't lose and still get to 270. Also note the 12 point swing versus this same time period in 2020 during the run-up to that election: 2024 Pennsylvania Election: Trump vs. Biden Polls | RealClearPolling
Nah. They get no pass here. If they question him, but do nothing then they are no better than the republicans who have ignored those questioning the orange guy. Heck, even if they do push him out, it isn't some righteous deed for the common good as much as it is self serving self preservation.
The deciding electorate now is generally: 1. Biden voters — “I will never vote for Trump.” 2. Trump voters— “Biden is unfit” Putting someone else up in place of the “unfit” changes the discussion. And of the Dems put up someone who is truly moderate, it would be game-changer. Biden was down on the polls before the debate. He has since dropped and he will NEVER recover the confidence from the electorate. Unfortunately, Biden suffers from the one ailment to which there is no cure, no remedy, no comeback — old age. Setting aside hopes and dreams, the only way for Trump to be defeated is to replace his opponent.
How many times have liberals on this board chastised people who dared say he had handlers, only for all of us to now see that he clearly has handlers.
I disagree with this. His “decline” doesn’t (necessarily) make him unfit today. But it sure makes him unfit in the next few years ahead of us.
I’d appoint people that are the absolute best at their craft. Loyalty in this country should be to the People, not Dear Leader.
A liberal saying this is a bit humorous to me. Many of us have been saying this for years. They endorse democratic candidates historically 75% of the time and Pew found that they attract a 65% liberal audience. Glad some of you are finally agreeing.
No, no, no. We have to pat ourselves on the back for being willing to ask those hard introspective questions like “Do you think we can still win if we run a candidate who doesn’t seem to know who or where he is? Will people still vote for him, or is standing around looking lost with a vacant stare and his mouth hanging open a deal breaker?”
Foreign policy is my main concern for the duration of his current term. The world is a powder keg right now. Leaders and adversaries know he's a lame duck for nearly 7 more months. It could certainly compromise his ability to get a deal worked out and his ability to react swiftly in an emergency. And before someone says "his aides can cover for him... blah blah.." His "aides" are the ones used "jet lag" as his main excuse right after the debate. As if they didn't already consider a scenario where such a debate performance could happen and that was their strategy, to say he had jet lag. The handling of the fallout from that debate doesn't make me believe his aides are ready to react to a Putin, Xi or Iran/Hamas/Hezbollah induced emergency on a dime. That was a horrid excuse and that's the best they could come up with on the spot.
At this point,I don’t think anyone could laugh at you for the concern. I don’t share the present concern, but I’m at the point where I understand it.
