My "liking" Biden has nothing to do with anything. I "like" Biden more than I "like" Trump, but I still assert that the same expansion would have happened regardless. I understand it's campaign season, and his Administration needs wins where it can get them. If Biden wants to take credit for something that Putin did (contrary to his purpose), then that's understandable. But it is not accurate.

And promising you I am not here to pile on, but @gatorpa’s assertion isn’t really false either. View this in the context of Biden’s words being transcribed or translated in foreign capitals around the globe. This is why his condition is so dangerous. Words have meaning and translators/transcribers around the world aren’t reminding viewers that Biden has dementia (ie this is what he really meant). Also remember this interview was being billed around the world as “the real Biden.” Yes, we knew what he was trying to say…..we think. But if you’re reading that on a CC or it’s being translated, Biden said he created NATO. You both have valid points. Joe needs to go.

Sorry for putting it in quotes.

Saying “I don’t think I did” is in realty the same thing as saying I don’t remember. But you get that.

So now it’s “he said something that could be interpreted as….” Bottom line is he didn’t say what gatorpa said he said. As for whether or not Biden did what he (or Jill) hoped would happen as a result of the interview…absolutely not. He needs to go but preferably in a couple of months so the democrats can continue to be dragged down.

That is the magic question. When will Biden finally call it quits? As silly as it sounds, I think a lot of it will have to do with how bad the polls get. There's obviously been a noticeable bump for Trump since the debate. If the polls stagnate at Trump +4 or Trump +5 nationally, it's easier for the Biden family to claim he still has a chance. If we start seeing Trump +7 or +8 (or greater) across an average of national polls, then the Biden family doesn't have a leg to stand on. I think that's what they're leaning on right now. If Trump starts to take a greater than MoE lead in states like Virginia and Minnesota, for example, what pathway to 270 can the Biden family point to? The irony here is that it will likely be the American public who decide if and when Biden drops out by what they tell pollsters.

It is both amazing and disconcerting there are people who simply do not understand your point. And they have a right to vote.

If Trump had said some like this the left, including the media, would be in an uproar and there’s be an epidemic of teeth gnashing by those with TDS (most of the left and quite a few on THFSG)..

Since Trump literally says things that are at least as non-sensical on a weekly basis, I don’t have much sympathy for this argument. The fact is that both candidates have cognitive challenges, and their supporters simply have lower tolerance for the verbal blunders of the other guy.

You get the bacon, because we all have “cognitive challenges” to some degree, but only one of the candidates has needed help finding the exit ramp from the stage multiple times in the last year. Only one candidate has been visibly lost out of his mind multiple times in the last year. And frankly, we have a much larger sample size for Trump, because Biden has been mostly hidden and in bubble wrap whereas Trump has been doing extensive off-the-cuff town halls and campaign events this entire time.

Sorry man Trump say stupid crap all the time but he’s never looked like Biden has as of late. Trump is on stage all the time. Biden is reading off the teleprompter 95% or the time in public. Can’t compare the two on cognitive levels at this point.

I’ll say it again though they both suck.

A thought to add….. Biden attempted to use the “jet lag” excuse, which is just one example of his willingness to insult the collective American public’s intelligence. But nobody talks about what Trump has been through over the last month or so prior to the debate. Maybe Trump has ice water in his veins, but one would think a man with 91 pending felony indictments has had some stress to overcome lately. Having to sit in court and going through all of that in Manhattan. I think that would take a toll on anybody. Especially someone who just turned 78 years old. He still sounded fresh and sharp at the debate. Yes, he had his talking points, but he was prepared, engaged and didn't seem tired at all. I think even if you hate Trump, you have to give him his due. They were trying to break him and it hasn't broken him, clearly. That has to count for something.

And what a dreadful, shameful excuse from the WH about Biden and jet lag. It was just a bad excuse for too many reasons to list. That then morphed into "he had a cold." And then "I don't know why George." If the allegation is Trump is a serial liar.......

Democratic voters are pushing back against the all out media offensive against Biden. It's time for his campaign to go after the MSM as well as Trump going forward.

Thanks for the responses Okee and pa. I must clarify that I wasn’t suggesting that Trump’s cognitive state was identical to Biden’s - only that both have this same issue. Okee’s statistical point is a good one that our sample size of Trump’s communication is larger. Still, Trump has said some truly remarkable things that shouldn’t be completely erased by comparison. The office we are talking about here is president. Of the United States. The bar for entry should be higher than “seems more cogent than that octogenarian on that bench”.

The key question isn’t which of the elderly men has lost the least of their faculties. It is whether either of these men should be trusted to lead the United States. If we only assess our candidates in comparison to each other, that question becomes meaningless.

The irony is the inject bleach BS is clearly designed as a scare tactic towards the elderly. Covid hit the elderly much worse than the rest of the population and the elderly are more prone to these types of fear mongering tactics in general. Biden is not fooling anybody under the age of 65 with that crap. Or at least, I hope not.

That's not really accurate though. We shouldn't be comparing them to one another, because on this subject, there is no comparison. Trump is obviously still alert, can recall details with ease, doesn't stare off into the distance as if he has forgotten where he is. Everybody has miscues. George W Bush was famous for them. Other than moving a little slower because he is 78 years old, Donald Trump does not seem to have lost any speed off of his fastball or any break off his curve. He actually showed some of the discipline GOP have been begging him to show in the past. I think some of that probably has to do with the fact he knew he was winning, but he still showed the restraint. More restraint than Biden, honestly.

In that case, I would suggest that you and I are seeing two different Trumps.

This is Trump in 1998. Note how he doesn’t slur, trip on his words, or lose his train of thought. This simply doesn’t sound like the same guy to me.
