I'd watch just to see Canyon shooting his underhand freebies.
I'm assuming you get free-throws in the 3-on-3 competition but I really don't know the rules.

And to think that Canyon wasn’t good enough to start for the Gators. Never mind, I just remembered that Mike White was his coach.

Crazy that he's the first UF basketball player playing for the US in the Olympics

I just checked and Cheese was coming off the bench for Kasey Hill that season, too. I don't know why in my mind I remembered Cheese being the starter. You all know I liked Mike White, but that's questionable at best.

The team that season became known as Chiozza’s team or Cheese’s team. So there’s a tendency to think that he started. Especially considering that he seemed to take over during the latter part of the games.

Happy for Canyon. Not sure this should be an Olympic sport though.

If that thing they do with a rock and broom on ice is a sport, then this certainly qualifies as an Olympic sport. And even more so than that ribbon dancing thingie that they count as an Olympic sport.

Reminds me of one time when I was playing golf at Tampa Palms, and a guy asked me to watch his tee shot because it was somewhat of a blind tee shot. He hit it left and couldn’t see where it landed. I told him that it went into a tree/shrub thingy with red flowers. He said to me: a Crape Myrtle? I said: yeah.

Curling is a great excuse to drink beer. But that is a winter sport.

Need to add 16 inch Chicago softball as another sport that is beer friendly for the Summer Games.

But do 16 inch softball old school with no gloves.

Wasn't Pat Lawrence on a very successful 3x3 team a few years back?

Didn't Canyon make that incredible block in the NCAAs?

Not just a weird free throw shooter.

Who knew there was 3x3 hoops in the olympics? Is this new? While I'm in a questioning mood, didn't Canyon earn a masters in thermonuclear engineering or something similar? Why isn't he making bank as a thermonuclear engineer? (or maybe he is)

Canyon came to UF because we have one of the few Nuc E programs and it is pretty good.

Doesn't mean he can't still play some hoops on the side.

Back in the day all the "amateur" Olympic athletes had day jobs.

He is just a throw back like his free throw technique.

Thanks, do you happen to know what his day job is?

Unrelated, but I heard an interview with Rick Barry earlier this year. He remains very physically active and is apparently now a pickle ball guru. He played Wuerffel and Doering and reportedly whipped both their a$$es. He's 80ish and in great health, so good for him.

    He’s working for L3Harris.
