So you read it on CC? Still not seeing it in the transcript. I see where he says he kept it together but still don’t see what you said. Perhaps you can attach link to the interview so I can go to the 10 minute mark a follow along with the transcript to confirm that what you said is accurate

My notes from the first five minutes of the interview:
    - Biden couldn't remember if he had watched the debate afterwards ???
    - I'm still looking for the NYT poll that had Biden down 10 points before the debate. I look at polls all the time and don't recall seeing this. Anyone else have a link?
    - Blamed his performance on a cold. Said doctors checked him for a virus, but it was just a cold. (the cold is a virus) Two minutes later said "I just had a bad night. I don't know why."
    - Told George that he's given some bad interviews and forced George to acknowledge he had. (bad tact, awkward)
    - Biden was "also the guy who put together a peace plan for the Middle East" ???? really??

P.S. for all you "but Trump lies way more" people... give me a break. Biden lies like he doesn't know how to tell the truth.

I think this is absolutely right. The issue isn’t that there is money in politics; it is that there is value in politics. However, I do believe the situation can be improved if we reduced how easily accessible is this value. This can be done by reducing the power of individual politicians. As long as a president can just write an executive order or a party leader can just send a memo to overhaul a major system, people are going to spend major resources to court these individual. However, if our politicians were really just one of many different ones needed to enact change, it would significantly raise the price of regulatory capture. Instead, we seem fine with politicians overstepping their constraints …as long as they are our politicians.

Nah he mostly held it together from what I’ve been told. It was his #2.

And I mention that in the post I made as well but you perhaps” accidentally cut that off.
    See below.
With his current world salad stop and go speech it’s easy to confuse and have to defend.
I watched it live, the closed caption put a period at the end of his first statement likely because of his difficultly speaking coherently.

If Trump had said the exact same thing would you be so understanding? just curious.

Side question do you actually think he didn’t rewatch the debate? He said he didn’t remember if he did, do you think he doesn’t remember watching such a huge event so recently?

Just for the record you’ve been very critical of him as of late. I’ve been a bit surprised as you’ve been one of his bigger cheerleaders here.

I like where your head is at, but what you’re suggesting would almost require a re-writing of the Constitution. Not only the U.S. Constitution but state constitutions would have to be re-written as well. Hate to be morbid, but if human history has proven one thing it is that humans find lots of creative ways to control and take advantage of other humans. The wars and injustice are a common theme throughout. We were trying to do right with the Constitution, but humans inevitably gravitate towards power and greed.

Your comment doesn’t really make sense. I think pre-debate it was for sure a political move to really expose Biden’s cognitive decline. Post-debate it doesn’t really matter because Biden’s problem was on full display, and worse than many imagined.

it will be interesting to see if the House Judiciary Committee lets the DOJ/Garland slide now or whether it stays a pissing match. I don’t see how the Biden audio could be more damaging than the debate, so I could see the request be rescinded or the DOJ just give them up now. Either way, I don’t think they can damage Biden any further.

I am an advocate for reality. The reality is his administration has been very effective. It’s also a reality that his acuity has slipped. Those are not at odds.

I doubt he watched the debate. If he did he would not run.

The live answer had a long pause after it. that’s why the CC put a period on it. Like I said before hard tell what he means with his word salad speech. It retrospect I can see it going either way based on his current mental state.

If Trump had said it just like Biden did what would you think?

He also said in the debate “we defeated medicare” any clue what the hell he was talking about there?

He also in the interview said he was running the world, is that accurate?

But he couldn’t answer if he watched it or not.

“I don’t remember”. Which likely is an honest answer in either case.

Past 4 years are water under the bridge.

Neither is accurate, but one of those is far more inaccurate.

This is why we can’t have honest discussions. You put in quotes something he didn’t say. It was only a few days ago but you felt compelled to not quote him correctly. Why? He did not say I dont remember. He said, “I don't think I did, no.” Words matter, at least they should.

Was it a great answer? Nah. But why can’t we debate real things?

He didn’t say he created NATO as if it wasn’t in place until he dreamed it up. There is so much to be critical of his performance so why make up narratives? Entertainment, I guess.

While I kind of see your point, I think you may be missing the broader point. Biden’s statement about NATO is very incoherent for an audience who was tuning in for reassurance of Biden’s coherency. We shouldn’t be having this discussion. That’s the point.

My post was to assert that he also played almost no personal role in expanding NATO, either. He was the chief executive of one NATO member state when the expansion happened, sure. But Putin was the prime mover of that expansion if anyone was. If he had not invaded his neighbor for the purpose of conquest, then Sweden and Finland would not have applied to join. If someone else (probably anyone else) had been President when Russia invaded Ukraine, then NATO would still have expanded. President Biden deserves as much personal credit for expanding NATO as he does for any of the hurricanes that occurred during his administration.

That’s ridiculous. I get you don’t like him but NATO doesn’t expand without his activism.

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/poli...t-may-be-legacy-defining-push-expanding-nato/

President Biden this week will kick off a 10-day stretch focused on NATO and its role helping Ukraine fight Russia. At its core is the question of whether he can persuade Turkey and Hungary to drop their objections to welcoming Sweden into the world’s most potent defensive alliance.

The push starts Wednesday when he welcomes Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson to the Oval Office, an opportunity to reaffirm America’s enthusiastic support for bringing Stockholm into NATO “as soon as possible,” the White House said Saturday.

Biden successfully pushed for NATO to welcome Finland, which shares an 800-mile border with Russia. It joined in April. Both Helsinki and Stockholm abandoned long-standing policies of neutrality and sought membership after Russia expanded its war in Ukraine in February 2022.

Sunday Biden heads to the United Kingdom, where he’ll meet with King Charles III for the first time since his coronation (the president, in keeping with American tradition, did not attend) and with Prime Minister Rishi Sunak. Then he’s off to Vilnius, Lithuania, for the July 11-12 NATO summit. Finally, he’ll meet with Nordic leaders July 13 in Helsinki.
Officially, the U.S. is hopeful Ankara and Budapest will formally drop their objections to admitting Sweden. Could the Swedes join at the summit?
“The president is very optimistic that they will, and we look forward to welcoming them into the alliance,” National Security Council spokesman John Kirby said June 26. “The conversations between Sweden and Turkey continue. We encourage that dialogue.”
But putting a bow on this in Vilnius is highly unlikely.

No, sir. You’ve got it all wrong. Biden was the architect. You don’t see the 3D chess. Biden purposely botches Afghanistan. He then blesses Nordstream 2. Putin becomes giddy. Invades Ukraine. Sweden and Finland apply. The mastermind. The architect: Joe Biden.
