Tim Tebow will spend much of his professional life outside of football for the foreseeable future after recently becoming partner at GOVO Venture Partners — a venture capital firm based in Winter Park, Fla. A couple hours from his hometown in Jacksonville, Tebow will "use his expertise and relationships across the state to boost the firm, which recently launched its first venture fund (GOVO Fund I) focusing on early-stage companies involved with government entities and government regulations," according to Sportico. GOVO Venture Partners aims to help to fund companies that "strive to solve societal problems," which align with Tebow and the Tim Tebow Foundation's goals and principles. Tebow's employment is expected to help GOVO accelerate the company's value as a front-facing entity.
What the hell is an “early stage” company that goes straight to government contracting and government lobbying??? I know it’s Tebow, but that actually sounds shady. How about funding innovation, instead of funding would be govt grifters. Just a thought.
I suspect he is more valuable if he has a more public profile. I think continue doing sec nation might be part of the deal
Shady and a grifter...sure sounds like the descriptions of Tebow's twisted life up to this point. How about he's earned some belief by others that he'll do something positive in his next career choice. Just my thought.
29. Danny Wuerffel, QB; Reidel Anthony WR (Florida) 49. Mike Pouncey and Maurkice Pouncey, OL (Florida)
I'm not sure how you separate Ike and Reidel. They came in together, won a NC together and left together. They were probably the best WR tandem the Gators ever had (and we've had a lot of stellar ones!).
One reason might be that Ike got off to a slower start because of a shoulder injury. His playing time was limited for much of his freshman year while Reidel burst onto the scene immediately.
Not a bad list but 7 doesn't belong on there. They weren't a duo. Sanders made his mark after Thomas went to the NFL.
Obviously those are not words associated with Tebow, but they are words associated with govt lobbyists. I was speaking about lobbyists. Of course as it’s based in Winter Park, FL (not exactly the D.C. beltway as far as lobbyists go), hard to know what to make of it. None of our business really without knowing what it’s all about. I guess if we ever saw what comes out of this then it could be commented on more specifically. It can’t be worse than Dan Marino trying to sell me sleeping pills. Or what they made Danny Weurful do for some coinage.
I’m guessing he is working with the Heavener $$$. Working with government to push personal agendas aligned with his beliefs does seem shady, shadow government stuff. Why not just run for office? The guy will have a lifetime seat with all the political capital he’s gained in FL.
And then you also had Doering and Jacquez Green in the mix who were no slouches themselves. I miss those days and the type of talent that was here.
Crusher, I attended a Jacksonville Gator Club meeting the year Ike and Reidel were freshmen recruits. Back then it wasn’t as easy to get info on recruiting like we do today. Anyway, Larry Vitell was the guest speaker that night. After introducing himself he had this gem for us. Larry said, there’s whispers going around the coaching staff that Hilliard and Anthony may be the best pair of freshmen receivers ever at UF. Needless to say that was exciting to hear especially when you anticipated what the addition of a pair of great receivers could do for the Spurrier offense.
