Enjoy our National Day of Celebration to honor the founding of the greatest nation this world has ever seen. Hope everyone has a great day with their families and to be topped off with fireworks wherever you live. Next week we get to enjoy the Blue Angels performing over Pensacola Beach. July doesn't get better than this. BTW, those who have access to Amazon Prime Video, they have a terrific documentary up on the Blue Angels that you are sure to enjoy.
Happy Independence Day to you all! I'm all for smart decision making and this one quite clearly worked out very well. Sorry 'bout all that arguing a couple hundred years ago... Have a great one!
Watching the DC parade from home this morning. We went in person a few years ago. I can highly recommend it, especially if you have kids. They do an awesome dramatic reading of the Declaration of Independence, complete with people in garb in the audience leading cheers for the good parts and booing for the list of grievances. That summer we did a US history road trip, we wandered from DC up to Boston. Fort McHenry is another great stop if you have kids. If you check the schedules ahead of time, they can help raise the flag.
I grew up in pcola so I love me some Blue Angels. Caught one of their practices on my buddy’s boat last time I was in town. We were one of the only boats out there so they gave us a nice buzz on one pass through. Always mindblowing. Happy 4th to all!
No hard feelings! In wars against Great Britain, the USA record stands at one win, no losses, and one draw.
Based on our form at the European Championships, be careful. Jude Bellingham may come over soon and bicycle kick a late equaliser when you least expect (or deserve) it.
Part of the fun of Independence Day for me lately has been to watch the supporters of a traitor, who instigated an attack on our government, pretend to be patriots who love America. Not sure if saying that is a no-no here and I'm supposed to play along with their charade that they're patriots.....
Happy Independence Day to all. One holiday I never look forward to. Even fully sedated my dog Spider freaks out and tears up the house when the fireworks start. Last night the idiots celebrating early had her freaked out, I had to sedate her and lock her in the bedroom to keep her out of the rest of the house. She pulled the blankets off the bed, pulled the drapes down and made a mess out of both master bedroom closets. Tonight she will be fully sedated and locked in a crate. I hate to do it but it is necessary. I keep a sheet of plywood over the fireplace year round just in case someone sets off a firework on a regular day. Ever had to clean a partially white dog who climbed up a chimney?
Get your dog a weighted blanket. Prolly have one at wally world, else make one yourself. Wrap her up in a cpuple of blankets with sand bag(s) in bt layers. Makes em feel safe. Just a suggestion, fwiw.
Doesn't work, last night I actually tried to lay on the floor with her covered with a blanket and my arm around her. It didn't calm her one bit...........There is a story about why Spider is so scared of bangs. I won't get too deep into it but when she was a pup I took her out to a friends ranch and we were trap shooting. She disappeared and it took us a couple of hours to find her. The following week I was at home walking her and some ass hole kid threw a string of firecrackers at her. She was only a few months old at the time and I think it kind of scared her for life. I just looked and found the trap shooting incident video I made when we found her. Actually it was Spider and her sister Tinker who is owned by the friend who's ranch we were at. When we finally found the dogs they were curled up under the bottom shelf of Dave's tool shed. Tinker was just following Spider's lead I think because Tinker actually hunts quail now. No way I would ever get Spider to hunt.
