family => granddaughter, convinced him to run, got married at the WH, moved into the WH. Posse - staff members, advisors, cabinet members, etc all looking for new work if he doesn't run
or maybe fear of Kamala losing and Joe's condition 6 - 12 months ago when a decision had to be made were the controlling factors

Kamala Harris' entourage tries to guilt the democrat party into selecting her to replace Biden, claiming that black voters will be offended if she is not chosen. She had her chance to perform some presidential duties, and help Biden by lightening his load, but she declined to do so. He wanted her to work on immigration, and she wanted something easier (like no effort required). Her actions have demonstrated that she is not qualified to be president. Quit whining. If you wanted the job, you would have done the work. Harris should be glad she is not being dumped from the ticket altogether.

Kamala Harris worried Democrats will replace Joe Biden with white candidate

I'm not buying it. Both Joe and Kamala know that he is riding this thing to til the end. Any article discussing otherwise is a waste of time

Just listening to her is offensive, as you noted she had the chance to shine but couldn’t handle the minor stuff. The big stage is a bit different then running as shoo-in for Senator from Cali.

Actually, Id say her entourage is right and it would be the same no matter who the VP was. Pushing aside an incumbent VP at this point pretty much assures pissing of their supporters and ultimate defeat. For the Dems it is either Biden or Harris at the top of the ticket. Nothing else makes sense at this point imo.

Im not a big Harris fan so I get that she isnt popular to some, but at least she is not ancient and a convicted felon with elements of crime in all aspects of life as her opponent would be. I can actually see her energizing some young people that have given up on this election. Could be interesting to see who her VP choice would be.

Speaking of alternatives to Biden . . .

RFK, Jr. locks down the dog lovers' vote.
Well, not exactly. He seems to have locked down the lovers of barbequed dog. (For those of you who might think that Koreans still routinely eat dog, that's not true. Certainly not for Koreans in the U.S.) Finally, a candidate besides Kristi Noem has done something that makes Trump look humane on some level.

Maybe he thought this would be a dog-eat-dog election, and wanted to get ahead of the curve . . .

FDR dumped his V.P. before the 1944 election and brought in Truman, because he did not think his V.P. would be a good president for what would be needed after the war. Biden needs to do what's right for the country, regardless of what his V.P. or her entourage thinks. Energizing people (and giving speeches) is nowhere near as important as making the right decisions and staying on top of all the issues. It's a lot of work to get enough Congressmen on the same page to support a particular program. Harris has treated her V.P. position as a luxury cruise through D.C., not like a job with responsibilities. She could easily be a disaster as president. Biden is ancient, but his admin gets things done and is functional.

Wait until she gets in front of the camera more, she tend to babble and meander about when she speaks.
Then again I may have a small sample size as she’s not been out much in the last 2 years.

If Biden did that it would be his end. There are already cries of racism that Harris isn’t the first name on the lists being proposed to “replace” Biden.
If she got replaced Biden would lose 80% of the black vote.

I find it interesting that you apparently know what happened behind closed doors in the White House. Which office in the west wing is yours? I'll never understand the hard-on some of you have for hating Kamala Harris.
Biden isn't dumping his VP. You just sound crazy. The issue isn't the VP. The issue is Biden's age. If Biden isn't the pick, it's Harris. It's that simple. It's the only way that not to create a procedural shitstorm. You can spare me all the bullshit about what Harris has and hasn't done. You don't know. And I can say with total confidence that she'll be far less of a disaster as President than Trump. Easy choice. It's Biden's call whether he can continue do the job and continue his campaign. If he steps down, I have full confidence in the VP.

Swing big and go with another woman as VP. Or Pete is a really good debater but that isnt really much needed in a VP. Gavin is also solid but two Californians may put off folks.

The Media, proving it isnt left or right, but instead just chases the story is all over Biden and it's getting louder daily. If a group of Democrats really do come out against the President, then he really has a massive uphill battle that was already steep.

It sounds like Harris not only polls better than Biden does against Trump but she also seems to be leading the group of potential alternates to Biden. What strikes is the 20% "not sure" number. To be clear, this poll says it's of U.S. voters generally - not Democratic voters.

Edit to remove very large doc within link. The link here has a separate link to the poll.

I agree in general although the 80% is somewhat of an exaggeration. This isn't 1940. I would also add that supporters of the defeated indicted former president should be careful what they wish for. Despite her negatives Harris would probably a stronger general election candidate than Joe Biden. Unlike Biden who looked like the proverbial deer in the headlights in their debate Kamala Harris would absolutely shred Donald Trump probably to the point where he would be sweating so much that his orange makeup would be running down his face. Keep in mind what she did to Biden in the Democratic primary debate in 2020. She would also energize turnout among two demographics that a Democratic candidate would need to win, Black voters and suburban women. For the latter reproductive freedom is a major issue and Harris speaks to them on that issue much more effectively than Biden.

Pa. Gov. Josh Shapiro emerges as potential candidate if Joe Biden is replaced | Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

Since taking office, Mr. Shapiro has had to contend with a Republican-led state Senate and an evenly divided House, and he is locked in his second contentious fight over a state budget that once again appears unlikely to pass before the Sunday deadline set by the state Constitution.

Despite that, Mr. Shapiro has managed to maintain a higher job approval rating than the four previous governors had at this point in their terms, according to a Franklin & Marshall College poll. Fully 30 years younger than Mr. Biden and a dynamic speaker, Mr. Shapiro continued to barnstorm the state even after winning office, appearing regularly at ribbon cuttings and announcements of new jobs.

He publicly sparred with Norfolk Southern after the disastrous train derailment in East Palestine, Ohio, and won national attention for the reopening of Interstate 95 in Philadelphia just 12 days after a portion of the busy highway collapsed. At the same time, he’s been praised by some Republican adversaries and was the keynote speaker at the New Hampshire Democratic Party’s annual convention in September, where one attendee compared his speech to former President Barack Obama’s oratory.

Even before Thursday, many in the party considered him to be a potential presidential contender in 2028.

It wasn’t to long ago that some liberal posters in this board were very very sure Biden would destroy Teumpnin the debates…
Harris strings together word salads worse than Biden or Trump. She laughs at the mos awkward moments. She likely polls better right now because no one has seen her in the spotlget in Minh’s. My guess
DNC does what they did the las election. Biden hid in a basement and didn’t come out much at all.
Harris will be placed as the nominee at the last possible moment, will limit debate and public appearance and try to win the same way Joe did last time.
