Yep.. projection is the staple of his diet. Biden is the quintessential 'you know he's lyin' if his lips are moving' politician.
Give them time to reconsider their path going forward after his poor debate perfornance. I think they know they need to schedule a townhall soon to reassure the public. If he performs poorly again, it will be time to change direction.
Just for clarification I have not(like some posters here feel they can) diagnosed Biden with AD. I was speaking to the comment about what sundowners is. I really can’t comment on what some crack pots are saying about Biden may be taking. There are some meds that can help with cognition and focus but are less effective later in the day. in addition reading a speech requires much different brain processes as listening to a question and quickly formulating a cogent response.
Is this actually an attempt to defend Biden’s terrible performance? Biden also seemed to have issues answering questions asked by the moderators with out any of Trump’s “gaslighting”.
think about their incentives? They are in a tight spot. If they trash him & fail to get him out they’re even more screwed. Trashing him is very risky #s arg: & I am pretty sure even prior to the debates, polls showed the majority of dems wanted a diff nominee https://thehill.com/homenews/campai...-biden-trump-enthusiasm/mlite/?nxs-test=mlite
Wasn’t aware Thomas and alito were running for any office. They be in the same jobs no matter who wins the presidential election
It is very real. It is not the only symptom of dementia or even AD. Other symptoms show throughout the day, but they are milder and can be overlooked as a “senior moment”. At night, the cognitive issues are undeniable, as they were Thursday. The sundowners window starts to rapidly progress into dinner time, and then into late afternoon. Mornings are rough as well. The two periods begin to merge until all day is what we saw Thursday. Saw this with my MIL and am seeing it with my mother now. She can read aloud and sound fine. But ask her to stop and repeat something and things start going downhill quickly. These post debate performances are definitely choreographed. They sound good, but I’m pretty sure that he couldn’t repeat anything he read a few minutes later. They won’t put him in front of a mic or we will hear a lot more stories about uncles, and Cornpop. Sundowners is the beginning of the very rapid decline in cognitive skills. It is very hard to look at any one incident with any credibility. One minute they are processing things well and the next they don’t remember why you are there bothering them. There’s a little bit of everything between those all day long.
To me, the point is that Alito and Thomas potentially retiring early in a Trump second term only to be replaced by an 50ish age ideological similar judge. That would cement 30-40 years of SCOTUS power to the right. The next two Pres elections have to go Dem to restore a balance to the SCOTUS with 2 centrist judges, which appears impossible.
I think he is missing the point. It's not whether he thinks he can do the job. It is if voters think he can do the job. In a Staring Contest With Democratic Voters, Joe Biden Hasn’t Blinked - The New York Times (nytimes.com) “Folks,” he said at a New York fund-raiser the next night, “I would not be running again if I did not believe with all of my heart and soul that I can do this job.”
While I tend to agree, Biden's mental state made the strategy far more effective. If Trump were debating anyone else or even a more coherent Joe Biden he wouldn't have been able to get away with that sh*t to the extent that he did. By the way in a previous post I suggested that Biden's exceptionally poor performance may have been result of cold meds. Two Trumpers rated the post as "funny". I would add that apparently my opinion is not unique: https://www.medpagetoday.com/opinion/second-opinions/110891 Biden's symptoms appeared consistent with someone suffering from temporary drug-induced cognitive impairment. We now know he had a bad cold during the debate. Most people believe common over-the-counter cold medications such as DayQuil, Tylenol, or Advil to be harmless. While generally well tolerated, these medications have well-documented side effects and can cause reduced alertness, diminished attention, poor memory, and reduced reaction time, especially in older individuals. These impairments are transitory but can appear consequential and alarming. Every experienced clinician has seen this effect thousands of times. If anti-cold medications were combined with other drugs, the risks could increase even more. Upon hearing our perspective, Yale professor of psychiatry Marshal Mandelkern, MD, PhD, concurred: "As a clinician, when someone presents with 'altered mental status' I would always think of the possibility of drug ingestion as a cause. This is not only common, it is usually the most benign explanation for a change in mental state." I would add that even if that's the explanation Biden's performance resulted in serious damage to his campaign and reinforced the image of Biden that the right-wing media has been promoting for years, most recently through edited photos and videos.
Dems at least are discussing Biden stepping down after a single debate performance. Republicans back Trump no matter what.
Who cares?!?! He will never again project the confidence and conviction needed to lead a country. It is beyond selfish for him to stay in the race.
This idea that Biden is a straight-shooter is more dishonest than the narrative that he has no cognitive issues we heard forever. I wish people would just wake up and at least acknowledge documented history. Biden was embarrassed out of the 1988 presidential election after being caught by the media in dozens of blatant lies about his resume and credentials. He's about as a straight-shooter as OJ Simpson.
Not defending Biden but there is a big difference between lying about one's personal resume and telling blatant lies about public policy and current events and let's not forget that while Biden lied about his academic resume Donald Trump had Micheal Cohen back when Cohen represented the Donald as Trump's personal attorney send letters to every school that Trump attended threatening them with litigation if they ever released Trump's transcripts or any information regarding Trump's academics.
