Just heard such an obvious point on a podcast. Can't believe I didn't think of it before because it is mind blowingly obvious. Only lawyers that litigate in federal court will understand.

But Aileen Cannon has not delegated any of these motions to the assigned magistrate, who also was the magistrate that authorized the original search warrant. Yet she has suggested that she's overwhelmed with motions to be resolved.

Anyone that practices in federal court knows that they routinely refer the maximum number of matters possible to a magistrate to be initially resolved with a report and recommendation. But of course, that would both move the case along and risk a different type of decision, forcing her to reverse it explicitly. So she never delegates to the magistrate.

    So obvious

    Interesting post. Equally obvious:

About fifty years ago there was criminality from a President. That he was a Republican is not really relevant, but it was made clear his criminal conduct would not be tolerated by members of the legislative, judicial and executive branches.

Today, criminal conduct by a Republican president has been indicated tolerable by voters and members of.....the legislative, judicial and executive branches.

It's so obvious, but the facts are so frequently not overtly stated about these people -today's Republicans-, as they obfuscate and abet crimes.

    They. Are. Criminals.

I don't know how this escaped more attention. A bunch of stuff about the extended court fight over a 10 million dollar payment to Trump from an Egyptian bank. The Egyptian bank had been arguing that it couldn't provide any information about the payment to Trump without violating the finance laws of a third country. Enough of the court documents have been released that we now know the third country involved is China.

It looks a lot like Trump got 10 million dollars China, funneled through an Egyptian bank.

They provide links, so you can go directly to the primary sources to verify things for yourself.

An Egyptian Bank Claimed Details of a Suspected $10 Million Payment to Trump Might be in China - emptywheel

It’s the unspecific third country, Country B, that is the most interesting new disclosure, however.

The newly unsealed passages do not identify which country, described as Country A and which CNN identified as Egypt, owns this bank. But they do show that the bank or its lawyers wanted to share the subpoena with personnel in Cairo.

The newly unsealed passages do identify which third country’s laws, unspecified laws, might prohibit lawyers from searching for responsive documents in that country: China.

In other words, a bank owned by Egypt said it couldn’t comply with a subpoena seeking information on a suspected payment to Trump during the 2016 election, in part, because China’s laws would prevent that.

A daughter of a Trump fanatic describes his remorse for what he put his family through, just before he died.

Daddy died a MAGA. His last words were apologies for how his Trumpism hurt our family | Opinion

How will our Trumpers handle this issue when they reach the end?

    is this the same thing?

Feds chased suspected foreign link to Trump's 2016 campaign cash for three years - CNNPolitics

For more than three years, federal prosecutors investigated whether money flowing through an Egyptian state-owned bank could have backed millions of dollars Donald Trump donated to his own campaign days before he won the 2016 election, multiple sources familiar with the investigation told CNN.

The investigation, which both predated and outlasted special counsel Robert Mueller's probe, examined whether there was an illegal foreign campaign contribution. It represents one of the most prolonged efforts by federal investigators to understand the President's foreign financial ties, and became a significant but hidden part of the special counsel's pursuits.

The investigation was kept so secret that at one point investigators locked down an entire floor of a federal courthouse in Washington, DC, so Mueller's team could fight for the Egyptian bank's records in closed-door court proceedings following a grand jury subpoena. The probe, which closed this summer with no charges filed, has never before been described publicly.
    ....................
Part of what drew investigators' initial interest in the matter was intelligence, including from an informant, that suggested there could have been money from an Egyptian bank that ended up backing Trump's last-minute injection of $10 million into his 2016 campaign, according to two of the sources. Among the chief questions prosecutors sought to answer and apparently never did was whether Trump was supported by or was indebted to a foreign power. zthe investigation even went as far as the US Supreme Court, the only time during the two-year Mueller investigation a dispute went to the high court. The justices ultimately declined to hear the case.

That is the one. We didn't know that China was the other country involved in getting the money to Trump until this recent release of documents.

This one is a laugher...which shell company will they have to transfer to not be controlled by a felon?

sad that someone convicted of sexual assault didn't get tagged by the moral turpitude provision already. interesting that local board approved a license for the third club. guess 34 feloneis and sexual assault doesn't trigger their moral clause

Two of Donald Trump's golf course liquor licenses not renewed (msn.com)

Two of former President Donald Trump's golf courses in New Jersey were denied liquor license renewals following his conviction on 34 felonies in New York two months ago.

New Jersey's Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) said Friday they were issuing temporary 90-day permits that will allow the clubs to continue serving alcohol pending the outcome of a scheduled hearing on July 19 in Trenton.
    .......................................
The two golf clubs in New Jersey whose liquor licenses expired July 1, 2024, are Trump National Colts Neck and Trump National Bedminster. The license for Trump National Philadelphia, in Pine Hill, New Jersey was renewed by the municipality there.
    .............................
After Trump was found guilty of 34 counts of falsifying business records in May, ABC is looking into New Jersey law that prohibits convicted criminals "involving moral turpitude" from holding a liquor license, according to official news sources.

Saudis to build a Trump tower and start direct payments to Trump Organization. I bet the $9.6M they found that he made from ME countries while in office isn't 10% of the total he took in.

    https://www.cnn.com/2024/07/01/business/trump-tower-saudi-arabia/index.html

The Trump Organization revealed plans Monday to develop a luxury Trump Tower in Saudi Arabia.
The land, developed in tandem with Dar Global, the international arm of Saudi mega-developer Dar Al Arkan. If completed, it appears the Jeddah tower would be the Trump Organization’s first major project in Saudi Arabia.

“We are thrilled to expand our footprint in the Middle East and bring the Trump standard of luxury to the region through our long-standing relationship with Dar Global,” Eric Trump, executive vice president of the Trump Organization and son of former president Donald Trump, said in the announcement.
Dar Global said the project will target the “luxury Saudi Arabian market and international investors.”

The new project in Saudi Arabia comes just days after the Trump Organization and Dar Global Trump International hotel complex in Oman. That five-star hotel complex, set to open in December 2028, would include a nightclub, golf course and members-only club. Dar Al Arkan has agreed to use the Trump name and logo under license for that hotel, which is not owned by the Trump Organization.
The Trump Organization’s new projects in the Middle East could raise concerns about potential conflicts of interest should former President Donald Trump return to the White House.

“The Trump Organization’s continued pursuit of foreign business projects raises perilous national security, corruption and constitutional concerns,” Donald K. Sherman, senior vice president and chief counsel at the Citizens for Responsibility & Ethics in Washington (CREW), told CNN in a statement.
“This is particularly true of their development in Saudi Arabia, whose government has a long history of apparently seeking to influence Donald Trump,” Sherman added. “If Trump were to return to the presidency, he would likely violate the Foreign Emoluments Clause of the Constitution, as he did repeatedly in his first term in office.”
A 2023 analysis by CREW found that Trump made at least $9.6 million from countries in the Middle East during his presidency

That's how biz is done in the oligarchy / organized crime / international finance world. More money changing hands than the average John Q Public can fathom.
Americans are naive to think our country is not involved in these schemes. Generations of the Bush family and China anyone?

Yep, sure seems like the dominoes are falling trumps way. However, actual sentencing in Sept/Oct just prior to the actual election might not be all that great in the minds of voters.

poor old discarded Rudy has now lost his law license. Sad how many people have wasted their lives and careers supporting the charlatan.

Giuliani loses New York law license after backing Trump's false 2020 election claims (msn.com)

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Rudy Giuliani lost his New York law license on Tuesday, after a state appeals court found he had lied in arguing that the 2020 presidential election was stolen from his client, Republican former U.S. President Donald Trump.

The court found that Giuliani, the former New York mayor who served as personal lawyer to Trump, "baselessly attacked and undermined the integrity of this country’s electoral process" and "actively contributed to the national strife that has followed the 2020 presidential election, for which he is entirely unrepentant."

Giuliani was one of the leading proponents of false claims that Trump's defeat to Democrat Joe Biden in 2020 was the result of widespread voter fraud.

Melania strikes new contract. Will agree to live in NY with Barron and pretend to visit WH on occasion.

Melania Trump 'lands deal with husband Donald over her future role if he wins second term' (msn.com)

Melania Trump is unlikely to assume the full-time role of First Lady if her husband secures a second term as President. A source from within Trump's circle revealed to Page Six that the former Slovenian model has struck a deal with Donald Trump, stating that she won't be required to perform First Lady duties round-the-clock if he reclaims the White House in November.

The insider further told Page Six that Melania believes she can balance being a "hands-on mother and first lady at the same time. She doesn't want a relentless schedule of White House events, insisting she can juggle motherhood and her First Lady responsibilities simultaneously.
