I will say I think CJR would take Shilese if she wanted to come. I really don't think she wants to go to college.

Besides her age, I'd be concerned that she lacks the attitude to become a good team player. Gymnastics is all about her. It can't be that way in team gymnastics.

That makes total sense. I didn't know if now that her Olympic chance is likely passed if she would revisit

Amazing, 3 of the top 5 coming into the USA trials are now missing the Olympics due to injuries.

Suni Lee looks horrible. Will be on the team based on what happened in Tokyo, not for what she has been lately. Same for Jade Carey. Both will make it because Blakely and DiCello got hurt. Wong probably won't make it since the USA committee will want to take a teenager.

Is it me or is the Olympic scoring skewed too much towards difficulty? A really hard thing to do but yields a fall is better than perfectly executing a moderately difficult thing. Falls, step outs, bobbles, and whatnot by the top spots and they are still in the top spot? I get rewarding difficulty to a point, but keep your butt on the beam or you lose.

I’m heartbroken for Kayla, sit out a year at UF to pursue your Olympic dream and then your acl goes out. Life doesn’t seem fair far too often imo.

Leanne is a traveling alternate, will only perform if needed. Saw this posted through the DR. Sam site:

    @jessicafsu

Leanne Wong simultaneously: - Wrote and released a book - has multiple brand deals - designed leos - runs a business - FULL TIME (pre-med) STUDENT - competed weekly in ncaa - trained for the Olympics I did exactly one of those in college.

Shilese Jones should have signed with UF, diminished $ pro appeal.

Think UF leads for Hezley Rivera based on fist bump with CJR and closeness with Leanne. LSU fan thinks UF is on top of her recruiting. She is on the Paris Olympic Team top 5 at 16. Hezley is a shooting star. Glad Leanne will be there to help her through the Olympics.

THIS! I love Simone. She's the absolute GOAT and in a class by herself. However, I don't care if she flips 8 times on a vault, she needs to control the landing. I know college gymnastics is watered down and the judging is inconsistent (or consistently poor), but at least it concentrates on clean routines. My wife and I were very frustrated in the scoring this weekend.

Make that X2 for both Kayla DiCello and Skye Blakely. Both will highly likely miss all of the 2025 UF season. Achilles tendon tears are recoverable at 100%, but it takes 10 to 12 months to get back into performance shape.

The USA Paris Olympics Team has a heavy NCAA slant:

3 Current, Former NCAA Gymnasts Named to U.S. Olympic Team - College Gym News

It's rumored that Hezley Rivera is leaning to UF in her recruiting too.

The U.S. Olympic Trials ended on Sunday night with the selection of the five women who will represent Team USA at the Paris Olympics next month: Simone Biles, Jade Carey, Jordan Chiles, Sunisa Lee, and first-year senior Hezly Rivera. They will be joined by two traveling replacement athletes, Joscelyn Roberson and Leanne Wong, who was also an alternate to the Tokyo Olympic team.

Three of the five Olympic team members have ties to the NCAA. Carey is a rising senior at Oregon State, Chiles a rising junior at UCLA, and Lee competed for two seasons at Auburn from 2022-23. While Carey continued to train for the Olympics while in college this year, Chiles decided to take a gap year from the NCAA to focus on her Olympic preparation.

Lee, Chiles, and Carey finished second, third, and fourth in the all-around, respectively, behind Biles. The fifth member of the team, Rivera, is a five-star recruit in the class of 2026, who has just started her recruiting process. She finished fifth in the all-around at Trials and will provide instrumental depth to the team, especially on bars and beam.

Roberson and Wong also have ties to the NCAA. Roberson is an incoming freshman at Arkansas while Wong is a rising senior at Florida. Similar to Carey, Wong continued her college career while training for the Olympics.

Trials were also marked by two Achilles’ tears to two top Florida gymnasts: incoming freshman Skye Blakely and rising sophomore Kayla DiCello. The injuries raise some questions about Florida’s lineups and depth next season.

Leanne deserved a spot way more than Suni and Jade, especially Sun. She was on the Tokyo team but has been mediocre at best.

What ticked me off is the judges and the committee had already made up their minds before Sunday night.

I like Suni and think she should be on the team, but not in the 2nd position to Simone. Suni's Sunday night beam routine was awful and scored too high. Suni fell off the beam, had to grab and hold the beam to keep from falling off a second time, had several balance wobbles, and looked like she was ready to quit before also missing her dismount. Have to say when Suni is on, she looks like a top gymnast in the world. However, she isn't near as physically fit as she was 4 years ago due to her kidney issues.

After losing Shilese, Skye, and Kayla, this team is okay by me. It will compete well with Simone at the top of the team. I'm happy for both Leanne and Joscelyn to be traveling alternates in case they are needed.

Transfer Portal Winners & Losers Plus Teams on the Hot Seat:

The Transfer Window: Winners, Losers, and Teams on the Hot Seat - College Gym News

    Winner

    Florida

Former No. 1 recruit Selena Harris’ dismissal from UCLA came as a shock to most, but choosing Florida as her next destination may have been even more surprising. However, after Achilles injuries to Skye Blakely and Kayla DiCello at the U.S. Olympic Trials, Harris’s arrival becomes critical in replacing those lineup spots.

    On the Hot Seat

    UCLA

Let’s be honest: Losing your team MVP, regardless of the reason behind her dismissal, is a gut punch for any team. After losing an additional depth piece in Alex Irvine, the Bruins find themselves in an interesting position heading into 2025. If Janelle McDonald can find the routines to match Selena Harris’, the Bruins will be in good shape. If not, their struggles could continue into 2025.

I think CGN is a bit too worried about UCLA. So long as Jordan Chiles, member of US Paris Olympics Team, returns as she is planning to do for her final two seasons after deferring 2023/24 to concentrate on elite Olympics training, UCLA will be fine even if not a final four team. Putting UCLA as a team on the hot seat is a bridge too far.
