The judges have their minds made up regardless of performance. Suni's score on the beam was way inflated after that near fall.
Confirmed: Kayla DiCello has a torn Achilles tendon too. Both Skye and Kayla will miss the 2025 season. I'm thinking both redshirt. I'm not sure how a redshirt on top of a deferral year affects Kayla, but I'm thinking she'll be a redshirt sophomore for the 2026 season. Picking up Selena Harris was HUGE. I hope my prediction that Victoria Nguyen returns comes true. Getting Riley McCusker back off of injury is HUGE too. UF will still be good, but I may have to reconsider UF as my #1 prediction for the 2025 season. I may have to put LSU at #1 like I did for the 2024 season, will think about when we see if Victoria comes back for her 5th year.
Leanne must be at her best on Sunday. That includes increasing difficulty for a higher score on floor. She isn't out of it yet, but in 8th place she is on life support.
Don't have enough left to overcome those 2 massive injuries. Another final six at best. LSU probably repeats because of these injuries.
Those 2 injuries are sad for the ladies who have them. But I won't discount us yet. We have good returns, and we've added 3 more newbies. We're hoping to get Riley and, hopefully, Victoria. Let's let it play out.
Too soon to come to the conclusion we can't content for a national championship. By the end of August, we'll have a complete picture of what we have to work with in the 2025 season. Bottom line, I do not expect anything less than a top 4 finish even with Kayla and Skye out for the year.
Shilese Jones also has to pull out due to injury. Any way for her to still make her way to UF or is that door closed?
Is Shilese not participating on Sunday? This is news to me. I'd be surprised if Shilese makes her way to anywhere other than the pro circuit. Reading the tea leaves of comments by CJR, I don't think Shilese is interested in getting an education from a top school like UF. Getting real on Shilese's age, she is not Simone Biles. I'm not sure she could take the rigors of weekly performing in college team gymnastics. We could end up with another Morgan Hurd who has done very little in her college career.
