Don’t think it helped Trump directly. Trump is Trump and you know what you get and he has shown very little if any improvement from what we already know to expect. Do think it hurt Biden, so I guess it indirectly helps Trump by likely suppressing whatever enthusiasm there might have been for Biden. Can’t imagine that this debate increased anyone’s actual appreciation of Trump.

Well.... if he had a cold he should not have been at the Waffle House late last night or at a rally today. Man his age should rest to recover. But they didn't have that luxury today when damage control was badly needed.
