No, the speech he just gave was written for him and he was reading it off a teleprompter. He can still read he just can't think on his own for very long or keep his mind on one subject. People don't recover from the problems he has.

 

That is what happens when you get prepped with too many numbers. You start trying to retrieve the numbers and start to have issues with it. You try to remember which stat you are supposed to use for this situation and then what that number is.

 

The main problem is his stutter and has always been, which he could manage better at one time, but is less good at managing now, because he's old.

Remember even in the 2020 Dem primary debates he got up there and claimed that 150 million Americans were killed by gun violence and another 120 million were killed by COVID (which, as many people jokingly noted, would have meant that nearly 9/10 Americans had been killed).

 

Let's go through and judge this without partisanship as best as we can. What are the metrics by which we should measure Presidential performance? Economic growth? Job growth? Wage growth? Inflation? Changes in US death rates or life expectancy? Happiness measures?

Under Biden Congress enacted the bipartisan infrastructure act probably the most significant infrastructure legislation since the Interstate Highway Act was passed under Eisenhower in 1956, Congress enacted the Chips and Science Act which has resulted in the construction of multiple new factories for the production of advanced microprocessors in the US reversing a decades old trend in which the production of those essential components moved overseas and as the result of his somewhat misnamed Inflation Reduction Act a number of factories producing components for EVs have opened or are under construction in the US, a trend that will almost certainly be reversed by Trump if he is elected.

Trump broke so many campaign promises during his presidency it’s almost laughable. The wall? Never got close to completion. Healthcare plan to replace Obamacare? Non-existent and even said “nobody knew healthcare was this complicated.” He also put us in a record deficit and was the first president in years to leave with less jobs after he left than before he came in. Simpletons give him credit for the economy when that was a combination of Obama’s previous presidency and then Covid shutting down everything to where gas prices were a record low and people were able to get things cars at record deals due to dealerships being desperate to get customers in the door and get inventory on the lot with used vehicles.

Trump is a complete moron and has no idea what he’s doing with anything, but please continue to give the guy who has bankrupted pretty much everything he’s ever touched, including a freaking casino, unwarranted credit, lol. If he gets elected and things don’t only not get better, but worse, remember you heard it hear first. Then again, you’ll all somehow find a way to blame Biden for that as well.

 

If I develop a property and sell it 3 years later and make 1.2 mill, I pay an extra 240k because I made over a million that year. That's not a yearly income. Effectively, I only made 400k pretax a year on the investment. It would make tsunami size waves in the market. Even for small time developers. No thanks.

Cap gains taxes are horribly distortionary. They greatly impede the flow of capital to where it is most useful. I am for no cap gains tax. A property tax on the value vs. change in value would be a win-win for gov & investors IMO.

If you are in the business of property development, wouldn’t this be all part of the calculation of ordinary income taxes - as opposed to capital gain? It’s not a pure capital gain if you develop property. Your “income” would be defined as the {price you received for the completed project} minus {cost of unimproved property + the amounts you spent on development}.

I prefer favored rates for long term gains, so not in favor of bringing those particular rates all the way to 40%. But I believe you are mischaracterizing how it would impact “developers”. Maybe you are talking about house flipping or something at a more individual level which might fall more under capital gains. But if your business literally is development and you do it consistently (even if you only transact every other year or every 3rd year) I don’t get why you think you are entitled to income at 20% ( or even 0%) relative to someone else’s business or employment income which might be taxed at the higher rates.
