True. I have always thought we should build back our program first before beefing up an already always tough SEC and FSU schedule though.
Sanford will not be getting a dime from me. Hopefully I’ll get to go to two games this year and that has zero chance of being one of them. It might not pad our record like an ACC schedule but it’s hard to decide which games I want to go to. There’s some good ones this year and I like that aspect. I’m looking forward to future schedules of all top teams playing a better schedule.
The way things are moving in college football, there will be an even less level playing field in College sports going forward. For all of the NCAA's warts (and there were/are many), at least they tried to level the playing field somewhat. That is mostly thrown out the window now right beside the baby.
I dunno, the sec just about dictates anyone in the conference play a pretty decent schedule. We added UCF , Miami, and FSU which pretty much sealed us having the toughest schedule. Sec schedule is fairly legit for all teams. There’s only a couple gimmes in the entire league. Even scheduling the 6 worst teams is better than many schedules out there.
Very true, however this new playoff scheme is going to bite the strongest leagues in the butt just like we shot our own foot off by scheduling teams like UM, Utah, in addition to our annual bout with FSU. Teams like FSU are going to be 11-1 playing the weak sisters of the ACC and go to the playoffs while upper level SEC team that went toe to toe with top 10 teams all year long are going to be sitting at home. We saw the relative strength of 2 teams that would have both made a 12 team playoff last year when Uga gobsmacked FSU in the bowl game.
I’ll guess we get four teams in the playoffs. Maybe we should get 6 but 4 will do. I just hope we are seeded with the opportunity to make an all sec final four.
I like at least one, but not more than two “cupcake” games a year. IMO an easy game serves more than one useful purpose: 1) It gives the coaching staff time to work some of the kinks out of the product they have on the field. This is particularly useful if the game is very early in the season. 2) It gives the staff a chance to play some younger players who have not been able to get on the field and maybe reward some players who have worked hard but mainly served as practice players during their collegiate careers. This is particularly useful toward the end of the season. 3) It provides an opportunity to rest or hold out players who have injuries that are at a marginal point where they could play but some extra rest would be beneficial. 4) It gives people who simply cannot afford the cost of a Gator football game a chance to attend. I don’t always attend “cupcake games” but I am always able to find a neighbor, relative or a third party that one of those people might know who are thrilled at the opportunity to go. I have never tried to sell tickets, but over the years I have made a few people happy by giving away my two tickets.
Agreed but they should just be preseason exhibitions. There’s no need for Sanford to be on record and affect standing.
I could go along with that, Wanne. I might add that if 2 such games are to be played one should be among first three games and second should be the last or next to last game before the season finale. For two or three years now, ( not this coming season) we played two cupcakes within first 4-5 games of season. For whatever the reason, and I’m not assigning blame, that was terrible scheduling.

It’s tough but I think my parents are going to give me their Miami tix so I guess my choice of games has been made for me. Great game but it’s so damn hot. Bama game was brutal.

Florida vs jawja need to do something special. They need to do a home and home - Atlanta and Jax game. If a player stays for 4 years, they get to play in 4 different stadiums.
