It is an interesting topic if you know the history of how a professional government came to be. For most of the 19th century, all government positions were based on the spoils system. This led to ever increasing corruption, where people would just buy jobs from corrupt party bosses, until the Pendleton Civil Service Reform Act in 1883. This made jobs professional and, in theory, based on merit. You didn't get to just throw everybody out when you took office. This dramatically changed politics, which, in the 19th century, had largely been about making sure that your party's financiers had access to the professional positions in government. Now, politics became about policy and the direction of the government more than just making sure the right people were employed by the government.

Now, think about this from the perspective of Trump, who brought back fairly substantial levels of nepotism (hiring multiple family members) and tried to limit the Pendleton Civil Service Reform Act via Executive Order and the current Supreme Court (which has been heavily limiting the interpretation of bribery for a couple of decades now) and it is reasonable to conclude that the Republican Party would like to bring back the spoils system (without the name).

It is a big deal because one of the major parties has a a good shot at putting it into place. Just because you may be in favor of the ideas does render it " no big deal". Have you even read their proposals or is this another case of " yay team"?

I was struck and disturbed by Stephen Miller's comments about changes at the southern border post the 3 minute mark. His mention of establishing the National Guard and the "military" in a fortress like position to prevent any crossing of the border "at all." Echoes of the Berlin Wall and North Korea. Not difficult 'at all' to foresee a dystopian future where US citizens looking to emigrate out of their homeland for a better life and future are forcefully prevented from doing so.

Hmmm....about 100 Conservative Organizations fund a group of former high-ranking Trump officials in a plan to dismantle a large proportion of the professional part of the government and replace them with party loyalists and you think that is a small thing?

You make zero sense. I'm not a "libbie", but I probably look like one to a crazy right winger. They are doing what they are doing and you're ok with that. Why? What goes around comes around and the changes happening is going to affect all of us sooner or later.
