According to God's Word, or your interpretation of God's Word?

My mother was told she may die if she carried me to term and that I definitely would be stillborn. Luckily my mother is a Christian and not a murderer.

You’re the one who is dishonest. No one said anytime, anywhere, for any reason. The bottomline is that that the decision rests with the woman and her physician, not you. I will never understand why you think that this is any of your business.

In addition, there are biblical scholars and pastors that disagree with your take on Christian teaching but that is neither here nor there because, wait for it, not everyone subscribes to your brand of religion.

You know why folks at the Heritage Foundation take ridiculous stances like Democrats/liberals approve of “abortion three days after birth?” Because they know that a certain segment of the population is THAT stupid.

The problem is always when people fail to recognize that distinction. It is a bit of a conundrum involving religion to me. Certain people need religion to take out all of the grey areas in life (which cause anxiety/stress). But religion doesn't really do that unless you decide that you know God's will perfectly. One of the innovations of Christianity as a religion was the explicit rejection of such a notion within the texts. However, it didn't pull that need away from certain people. That leads to this issue.

However, on the flip side, I also wonder if people who need that psychologically would actually cause more harm if they applied some other knowledge system to the same need. So it is one of those things that I know is individually harmful, but I wonder about whether it is better than the actual alternatives.

For now. They are working on the right to correct defective religious beliefs and ensure they cannot be held

What happens if your interpretation of God's Word isn't as correct as hers?

Correct. The government should stay out of it. That's my belief, regardless of how I personally feel about abortion. What's interesting to me is when you offer those exemptions, you are tacitly admitting that an embryo or fetus is not the same as a child who has been born and does not deserve the same legal protections. Because if you really thought abortion was infanticide, you wouldn't support rape or incest exemptions.

She would use words to communicate her interpretation of the Bible in the same way the Bible would use words to communicate ideas. How do you know you know your interpretation of her interpretation of the Bible is correct?

I went back and read all their posts since they joined yesterday. The bunch at the beginning were regarding project 2025, and all the rest is this “pride” stuff aimed mostly at you and then me and one for Q.

I think it’s clear the concern is not mocking God, because there are posts on too hot that truly mock God and are even blasphemous, that they have not commented on. I think this is clearly trolling.

I don't. Which is the biggest difference between you and me. I know that I get things wrong, so I'm not so inflexible as to insist that what I believe to be true is the absolute truth that everyone else has to adhere to.

One of the things that has led me to this point is that I now know some of the things I was absolutely sure were completely true according to God's Word, weren't.

Do you still interpret everything in the scriptures the same way as you did 20 years ago? I don't. Do I have a perfect understanding now? Possibly, but probably not. I learned something new just this week. Maybe that was the last thing I needed to learn to have a complete and perfect understanding, but probably not.

Seems to me some men just like submissive women, and some women don't have the self-confidence to resist subjugation. Using a 2,000+ year old book to justify that arrangement strikes me as flimsy.

You guys bring up the situations like pregnancy resulting from rape or incest and lambast pro-life people as being heartless and inhumane. If they offer a concession, then you lambast them for not being consistent. It seems like you’re going to criticize people no matter what unless they totally agree with your viewpoint. The point of your argument seems to be to back pro life people into a corner so that you can then subject them to the most severe ridicule.

Some of us are willing to recognize that there are complex, heartbreaking cases that are lose-lose. It is a heartbreaking loss to destroy the developing child. It is a heartbreaking loss to force someone to carry a child resulting from one of these crimes.

By the way, if you support any cut off after which abortions cannot be performed, then you were also being inconsistent.

Do you realize the sentences are contradictory? Maybe no one has used those exact words of “anytime, anywhere, for any reason,” but when you say the decision solely rests on the woman, then she can decide anytime, anywhere, for any reason.

Thank you @ncargat1 , for sharing your heart rending experience with us. I know it is not easy to recall and recount times of sorrow, but you have eloquently communicated the personal pain budding expectant families suffer when their dreams and expectations are shattered. Your story will not be forgotten by empathetic voting readers who care.

I'm biased, admittedly, but this is the type of tone of religious outreach I grew up with and feel is far more consistent with the Great Commission (age appropriate). Kindness. Inclusionary Franciscan.jpg

The point is these so called convictions of pro lifers really aren’t as strong as they say and there is a lot of hypocrisy.

Sorry, all due respect, I don’t buy this.

No not at all. Most rational thinking people realize the fetus develops from a zygote clump of cells to what is for all intents and purposes a living human being with brain activity and pain sensitivity that is not yet born.
