I don't know the answer to that but I just heard a funny from Peter Shamshiri on 5-4. He referred to how Justice Thomas describes all police interactions as kindly advanced in good faith as a "Paw Patrol perception of police". Made me laugh

First I've heard of this case. I am curious when the homeowner's sister in law found out the deceased was missing. Seems a little suspect!

    ***

In case documents and in court, Read’s attorneys have said they believe one of the two female acquaintances, the homeowner’s sister-in-law, is part of a cover-up to protect the people inside the house and frame Read for the crime.

A forensic search of the woman’s phone revealed a Google search for the phrase, “Ho(w) long to die in cold” hours before O’Keefe was found, according to court documents.

His girlfriend having a broken taillight, and pieces of a taillight being found at the scene seems like a pretty big clue. It seems like there should be a way to do a chemical analysis on the plastic to see if they are an exact match, no?

... edit ... never mind, it was further down the timeline... that's pretty solid physical evidence.

February 22, 2024 – In court filings, prosecutors said they have DNA evidence recovered from a broken tail light that implicates Read in O'Keefe's death. They said the tail light is the same material from Read's SUV, and that the DNA matched O'Keefe's. They also said broken tail light material was found on O'Keefe's clothing.

Well, it's possible that O'Keefe was thrown out of the house, and hit the SUV with such force that it broke the tail light. His girlfriend could have been passed out in the car and didn't even know it.

True, in reading on the FBI said his injuries are inconsistent with being struck by a car, but that is the case the state is making against the girlfriend anyway …. I remember watching a segment on this case a while back, and the theory the defense is floating is that the cop was drunk at his friends house, acted like an ass, got beat up and thrown outside unconscious and died…

I’m not sure either side knows what really happened…

It's kind of hard to know when everyone's drunk.

If the jury reaches the same conclusion, she's acquitted. I guess the case will turn on how compelling the taillight fragments and DNA are. Forensic science is very advanced these says, and jurors are partial to it.

Trooper Proctor, of the Massachusetts State Police takes the stand. Proctor is the lead investigator on the case. In a text conversation with several other state police, including two of his supervisors, Proctor said some pretty damaging stuff. He was forced to read these out loud. The prosecution asked him about them, and he mumbled through them. The defense made sure he read them loud and clear for the jury.

Massachusetts State Police trooper Michael Proctor, who led the investigation into the death of Boston Police Officer John O'Keefe, took the stand Monday, a long-awaited moment in the murder trial of Karen Read.

Proctor is being investigated for a potential violation of department policy in connection with the Read case, and the defense alleges — in claims strongly denied by the prosecution — that he likely played a part in framing Read for O'Keefe's killing. Read has been charged with manslaughter in her boyfriend's death, which she's denied.

In their opening remarks in late April, Read's defense told the jury that they would hear that "Proctor was texting with his high school buddies about this supposedly secret investigation, using his personal cellphone" hours after O'Keefe's body was found. On Monday, the prosecution had Proctor read those remarks and more into the record.

Michael Proctor’s texts in Karen Read case: What Mass. State police investigator said – NBC Boston

Texts with a friend group on the evening O'keefe's body was found:
    • On the date of the death, a friend wrote, "I'm sure the owner of the house will receive some s---," to which Proctor replied, ""Nope, homeowner is a Boston cop, too." (Which seems to imply that cops are above the law)
    • A friend asked, "is she hot at least," to which Proctor called her a "She’s a Wack job, c***, yeah, she’s a babe with a fall river accent though. No ass.”
    • Proctor shared a pic of Read to the group, and one of the friends if she was "a smoke" [smoke show, hottie], Procoter said "eh" and proceeded to make a disparging remark about a medical condition Read has.

Texts with his state police buddies, including two supervisors, and what would be assumed to be subordinates since he is the lead investigator in the case:

    • Called her a "whack-job," again
    • Again made fun of Read's medical condition
    • One of them commented "F her, btch" in regards to Read claiming the O'keefe was killed by the alberts
    • While going through Read's phone, "his r------- [mentally challenged] client's phone. No nudes so far. I hate that man, I truly hate him." He is referring to Yannetti, one of Read's defense attorneys.

Texts with his sister, who is good friends with Julie Albert, a witness in the case:
    • Proctor's sister texted him after he talked with Julie Albert, "When this is all over, she wants to get you a thank you gift," to which Proctor replied, "Get Elizabeth [his wife] one."

This whole case is odd. A cover up seems plausible, imo.

They say the only injuries are to his head besides the scratches on his arm. How would his head hit the tail light? Was he standing behind the car and bent over and she backed up? In that case, he should’ve been found in the street and not up in the yard, unless he crawled there, but then there should’ve been evidence in the snow of crawling.

The only way to break a tail light is to back into something. Could she have just not seen him there and accidentally hit him?

She’s not squeaky clean either. This is a bizarre case.

    Jury is currently deliberating.

My guess.. Not Guilty. This case has been wild and I'm pretty sure the FBI is investigating, which seems to not look great for the state police.

I thought this thread would be about Ivana Trump getting pushed down her stairs so Trump could put stolen classified materials in her casket and bury them in his golf course.

Interesting that the MAGA crowd that loses their mind to rush to conspiracy theories stays mum on this one. I mean she was only going to be giving testimony that Friday on one of Trumps trials. No reason at all to be suspicious.

Dig her up! Dig her up!
