Terrible for you and your wife. Just curious was this because of the new laws or prior to and you just got an on call guy who wouldn’t come and do the procedure at 0200?
I would say if the quantitative accuracy of data is important for a policy decision, I would want the most accurate data to be used - of course, "most accurate data" would, in many cases, be hard to determine. ABC cost systems presumably are more accurate than traditional cost sys. But, after spending millions on implementing your new ABC cost sys, how do you know it is more accurate? To know, you would have to know the actual cost of each product you make. BUT, if you knew that, you would not have needed a new cost sys (I have many proprietary mkt signals that A. indicate your old sys sucked & B. Your new sys is better - note, that is qualitative, not quantitative). As a brilliant econometirics prof was fond of saying, only god knows the capital Greek letters - in stats, as you prob know, the cap letters are the real values that we are trying to estimate. when you caint know the truth, it's hard to say what is "most accurate".
Another thought on accuracy of data. I did a consulting job pro bono for my beloved city. It was about a new tax break that only went to the city to encourage commercial development. The development also increased the services needed from the county - who got no tax proceeds. The issue was the city would transfer the variable costs imposed on the county. The county agreed to this. (this is a shameless brag)...I showed up & the city claimed that the var cost were something like 10% of the total costs. The county claimed that the var costs were something like 70% of the total costs. Given that the city was gonna transfer the var costs to the county, this was just classic negotiation BS. There is a simple straight way to tease out fixed costs from var costs, but they didn't care they were just trying to give the least vs. get the most. Oh yeah, the brag. The county had hired the most hotshot consulting firm in Denver. When they heard that I was repping the city, they literally backed out & didn't show.
yep. I don't know a lot....speaking of KOB, always had a slight pref for Somethin' Else which I have always felt compelled to compare to KoB.
I had that exactly once. It’s like quad, right. Not my bag. Making matters worse I had it in Miami. Not a warm weather brew IMO
It does not take being a Christian to understand abortion is the killing of a separate life from the mother and has nothing to do with the health of the mother the vast vast majority of the time. Medicine and Science have shown us this. But we certainly have different moral values when it comes to Life!
Yeah, Somethin' Else is a great album, led by Cannonball. Miles was a sideman. We covered the version of "Autumn Leaves" from that album in our first set. It's one of the definitive recordings of that tune.
In your estimation, what number would be acceptable? In your discussion of data points you haven’t addressed the actual issue. Remember, we had a sitting SC Justice muse from the bench how many body parts were acceptable for a woman to lose due to the lack of medical intervention.
Correct. You can't say rape is wrong, then turn around and condone something like abortion. That is hypocrisy. The cognitive dissonance involved with condemning rape, a gross dehumanization and violation of another human being, and then turning around to condone a similar dehumanization and violation of another human being is not being consistent with the categories of good and evil. Make a choice. Either it is wrong to dehumanize and violate another human being, or it is not wrong.
the increase in abortions does not support that position. Too bad you cared more about your self-righteousness than the most innocent.
Funny that you use the word " choice" when you want to deprive others of that option. Don't believe in abortion? Don't get one.
I believe in choice. I don't believe in choice without rewards and consequences, though. Deion Sanders had a choice to attend class or to skip class. Should he have graduated from college if he didn't go to class? No he shouldn't have. Since I believe that Deion's choices should have had consequences does that mean I am anti-choice? No it doesn't. People have choices, and people should live with the consequences of their choices.
I want the number of rapes that result in pregnancy to be zero. In fact, I want the number of rapes to be zero. And I support any measure to work towards that number. Let me ask you something. Would you support a ban on elective and convenience abortions as long as there are exemptions for pregnancy that endangers the physical life of the mother, contains an unborn child that has a defect incompatible with life after birth, for incest, and for rape?
