Have to like the trajectory Holtorf was on at UW: 2022: 42 games, .228/.344/.316, 1 HR, 29 Ks, 10 BBs 2023: 59 games, .277/.350/.475, 5 HRs, 24 Ks, 16 BBs 2024: 47 games, .336/.420/.632, 11 HRs, 18 Ks, 22 BBs Was UW's starting shortstop each of the past two seasons. Eight errors last season for a .942 fielding percentage.
Also, do softball programs just, as a rule, not list a player's handedness? I was going to complain about UW's website not saying if Holtorf hit right or left-handed, either on its roster page or her bio, but I see UF doesn't do that either.
Thinking either Cahalan or Holtorf will end up at 2nd. JMHO, the handwriting is on the wall for Mia next season, batting +-.160 won't keep her on the field. CTW is building a powerhouse for 2025 and beyond. Canady would help herself a lot by choosing to be a part of UF's special teams over the next 2 years. Welcome to the SEC Oklahoma and Texas. Thanks for lighting that roaring fire under Tim Walton.
If true, we'll get a boomer out of Gasso soon enough. Either way, UF is the best team in the SEC and the nation next season.
I agree. Only concern I have with all the infield competition we will have is chemistry. It was great this year. Need it to continue.
Great point. There will be more talent on the 2025 team and competition for playing time will be fierce. Hope every player can maintain a team first mentality like we had in 2024, especially from veterans like Goelz, Wilkie and Goddard.
Canady to OK is 5 in a row for them. Regardless of the hitters they lost all they need is 3 to 4 runs on average with her pitching. If you watched stanford play AND you are unbiased, you said to yourself if stanford can score 4 runs they win almost any game. No matter the talent lost at OK this year, their bats are better than anything stanford has ever had. They do after all have top level talent waiting their turn and new freshman this year. Everyone needs a significant jump from last year to compete with an OK team that will have her on the mound. She is a strikeout pitcher...period. Our team is not built that way and strike out pitchers still will championships not just homers.
