So when Trump says stuff like that, what are his supporters in the crowd thinking? - Wow, he's right. There's never enough water to wash your hands or take a shower! And no one's ever been treated as badly as he's been! - Hah, I love it when he says stuff like that and drives the libs nuts! - Sure he's batshit crazy, but inflation was lower than it is now.
I would add one more and it's not mutually exclusive with the others. It's part of his comedy routine and even if it's totally nonsensical it's really funny.
Had time to look up the full list: Lincoln was killed while in office. Garfield was killed while in office. McKinley was killed while in office. Kennedy was killed while in office. Teddy Roosevelt (my favorite president) was shot while running for president (shot in the chest while getting ready to speak to a rally crowd, spoke to the gathered audience for over an hour before going to the hospital). Ronald Reagan was shot while in office, spent almost two weeks in the hospital but recovered. And that leaves out the military men who became president after being wounded in service to our country.
And yet, and yet, the blatant narcissism bothers his supporters not one iota. Saying it’s a cult is not a joke; it’s the absolute truth.
I read that article and I don’t see where Trump compared himself to Jesus. It appears one of his supporters did, which of course is ridiculous to do. Did I miss something? Maybe the newspaper is speculating that Trump was the “supporter” who sent the message. But speculation does not equal fact. What is disappointing is that the Biden campaign then repeated this lie. There’s enough true things about Trump to criticize without having to make them up. The trouble is accepting lies about Trump brings about the question, what else are they lying about? It’s best just to be honest all around.
By reposting the comparison Trump was more or less saying that he agreed with the comparison of him to Jesus. While not absolutely identical Donald Trump has referred to himself as "the Chosen One". Although Trump is by no means the only one who does it retweeting a post is an acknowledgment that one fully agrees with the original.
