lol...that one was really deep...I'm fairly proud of myself for getting it after a thought or two. While I'm at it, I'll draw a recent comparison....Reagan and Korbe step into the box with one thought in mind....every swing is designed to rip the cover off the ball. Amanda doesn't do that. Jocey doesn't do that. Taylor doesn't do that.
Boy, you bring up another pet peeve. I don't understand why virtually nobody can bunt anymore. Not just us. Everybody. It is not that difficult. I assume we practice it for results that aren't obvious. I have never understood why, in a clear sacrifice situation, almost nobody actually squares around to bunt and instead tries to drag bunt it. Makes me pull out what little hair I have left. Emily could bunt. I'm trying to think of someone else.
Scrappy, you are correct. Hannah was an outstanding fielder at third. I was very impressed with her as a fielder first time I saw her as a freshman against UNF in Jacksonville. Very smooth, made it look easy. But as the saying goes, unfortunately, good field no hit!
Townsen Thomas and possibly Cassidy. Somehow, and I don't know how, we need to get both Townsen and Taylor in the lineup. We are going to end up with a lot of really good talent sitting on the bench a lot. I don't envy Tim but it is a good problem to have. I don't expect any freshman to come in and set the world on fire immediately and that includes both Taylor and Townsen. It is just too big a jump going from even the most elite level of travel to the SEC and it is only getting worse with the two new additions. And that's why the year Ariel had impresses the hell out of me.
Posted on the portal thread...we got Kenleigh Cahalan and we most likely have our starting shortstop for the next two years if all goes well.
Ariel at third. Kenleigh at short. And a whole bunch of talent fighting it out for second, first and right field.
Now all we need is Coach CSVP to do her magic with the pitching staff and a bullpen catcher. CSVP = Coach Stephanie VanBrakle Prothro
Ariel is so versatile, I wonder if she might move to 2nd if Mia continues to struggle with the bat and then Layla Lamar takes over at 3rd. Could happen.
Anything could happen but at this point I'm not taking Ariel off of third. Not the way she played this year. If Layla deserves to be in the lineup, let her play second or first. Judging defense in travel with stationary cameras behind home plate is very difficult so I don't know Layla's range but I would think she could play second if she earns it.
Gators just added shortstop Kenleigh Cahalan transfer from Bama. Can Gabi Comia or Layla Lamar play 2nd?
I asked CTW why we do not bunt I a meeting recently. Sandman and 1990 heard the answer also. CTW said that 90% of the players who show up have never been taught to bunt before they get here. They work on it but very few can grasp how to do it. He also said that do you want Skylar. Regan, Jocy etc bunting? i said yes but thats because I am old and still like small ball BUT I said I understand his point. I volunteered to teach 4 of them how to bunt as he knew I was a p poor hitter but a great bunter!
From what I've read, Comia is a middle infielder and Lamar is a corner infielder. With the versatility Ariel Kowalewski has shown, I think she could compete for SS and 2B as well and if Lamar comes on strong she could take over 3rd. If Mia Williams makes a sophomore leap she'll be cometing for SS & 2B as well and don't forget Alyssa Hovermale. She cam in highly ranked and was primarily a 3rd baseman. Lots of options for coach Walton.
