    .
From 1970 to 2000, six Cat 5 hurricanes were formed in the Atlantic, one every five years or so. Since 2003, there have been 16, one every 15 months. That doesn't concern you? I don't even live in Florida and it scares the crap out of me.

What concerns me is that there are people who call themselves "Gators" who don't understand basic math and science. For example, if the United States eliminated ALL carbon emissions today, there would still be more CO2 being dispersed into the atmosphere than there was in the year 2000. You can ask China and India to stop it with the carbons, but I don't think they're going to oblige.

    Vegas

today should have a high near 104, escalating to 107 on Friday, 110 on Saturday and 111 on Sunday. Neither weekend day is expected to see a record high, as 115 is the June 22 record and 113 is the June 23 record. Both were set in 2017.

Overnight lows will be in the mid-80s all week.

Monday and Tuesday will also see highs around 110, according to the Las Vegas office of the weather service.

"May 2024 was the warmest May on record, marking the 12th consecutive month in which the global average temperature reached a record value for the corresponding month"

If the US, India, Mexico, and other places getting baked are any indication - seems like June may be 13 straight.

Tampa has been hot with coolish breezes - weird. High humidity so much perspiration when outside at length, especially with exertion. But not that radiant debilitating heat

India has unbelievable temperatures for a primarily "non-desert" country.
Ain't a whole lot of AC for the average folk either.

Y'all forgetting the annual Haj pilmigage? Reports are well over 1,100 dead from heat prostration.

I wonder if the wonderful Gov's of Texas and Florida will reconsider their "No Water Breaks Legislation" when Texas and Florida starts to hit those temperatures.
