Indeed, it is merely a declaration of values regardless of the source, though the fact that it is steeped in history and tradition (shared by the 3 Abrahamic religions comprising a significant majority of the planet) makes it that much more worthy of promoting.

Note that while it is (or may be in Islsm--not sure) God's law for the adherence of the 3 most prominent religions on the planet, nothing contained in the Commandments carries the force of law with it, without it being adopted independently as law-eg-theft statutes criminalizing theft--and enforced as such (not because of the 10 Commandments).

Oh man, I’m praying for the soul of every non-believer reading this thread and still refusing to embrace His word. I don’t care if you’re a misguided liberal, centrist, or conservative.

“If anyone hears My words and does not believe, I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the world but to save the world. He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words has that which judges him—the word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day.”
    John 12:47-48

When you stop praying will you resume shilling for a lying, adulterous rapist?

Will you support his criminal conspiracy to overturn an election?

OH, wait........you'll probably pray for all those poor hostages who attacked the Capitol Building.

The best use of prayer: people aren't willing to establish a religion and I want to shove it in their face!

Let’s do a spark notes recap here.

You: If you only criminalize one thing, but not the others then you make the rest of the 10 commandments irrelevant.

Me: Well, here is the scripture that explains how the law is useful for convicting people of their sin and making the soil of their hearts right to receive Christ as their savior. Here is also the way in which it is useful to live a new life as a Christian.

You: Scripture is not going to get anywhere with me.

You may not accept my explanation, which I am not a plagiarist who would take credit for what is properly attributed to God. So it really is God’s explanation, not mine, but this notion that we make the 10 commandments useless if we don’t criminalize everything is certainly unbiblical.

You’ve hit something on the head here. I have my criticisms of Trump and one of my biggest grievances against him is he has a Messiah complex about him. He made his own study Bible. He made a commercial calling himself the chosen one by God. Those don’t get brought up as much as other things by Never Trumpers and liberals, but these are Trump’s most egregious offenses IMO. I had never heard of the images of Trump descending from on high with the sword of righteousness. That is disgusting.

Trump is not the first person to ever make a Messiah complex part of his campaign, though. I do not know the history of the presidency well enough to say who the first person was, but Obama had his own Messiah complex as well. Obama proved how easily duped people can be by a Messiah complex. So the Messiah complex is not a left problem nor a right problem, but a human being idolatry problem that both sides of the political aisle are susceptible to. It should be sharply condemned regardless of which side of the aisle it shows up on.

My problem with religious folks isn't with their beliefs, it's when they use government to impose their beliefs on everyone else and at that point they're well deserving of criticism.

I agree with your first paragraph. I don't see anything like a Messiah complex in the link you provided. And nothing anywhere near the self-worship of Trump.

What's that old saying? It's not the Jesus I have a problem with, it's some of his followers.

Cop out. Your intolerance is more "just" than someone elses....in your opinion.

I dare say the things you are saying about people of faith on this forum are far more intolerant than anything I have ever done or said about some of what I disagree with.

Again. Close friends and people I chose to hire would disagree with your assessment of me. Thankfully they have been just as tolerant of me.

Tolerance is not agreeing. It is actually the opposite. Tolerance is the fair and equitable treatment of someone or something that you may not see eye to eye with.

You do not "tolerate" something that you are in lock step with.

I think we should go far beyond tolerance though. We should love, care, equitably treat everyone the same. "Tolerance" gives off an image of dislike and disdain. As a Christian, my job is to love unconditionally.

If that isnt good enough for your razor thin narrow mind, then I can't help you.

I have to jump in. What church has done nothing about infidelity? There are many cases of removal, excommunication etc in the church due to it.

That carnival has been there a while, pretty much never seen anyone actually there. I guess they thought being across from Shoot Straight might draw a crowd, didn't work out.

I'll give you props on one thing - you do a masterful job of patting yourself on the back for your bigotry. What's next, you wanting to give a medal to a racist for "tolerating" Black folks being among us?

Can't help but wonder how those gay and trans people you know would think if they knew your true views, not just the face you present to them; they are just ungodly inferior creatures who you treat well and "tolerate" because you're a pretty genial individual and, well, bless their little hearts.

Here's a tip though; those folks shouldn't be considered ungodly or your inferior. You should give that a try....no matter how well you're able to cover those feelings up. After all, they didn't choose how nature or God made them. THAT would be what they deserve - equality, not "tolerance."

Some retirement communities in my area have sued and won on that point. They don’t pay any property taxes for local schools.

Divorce lawyers would never have it, but I guess they would just switch to criminal defense. ;)

Your *edited because I am a mod* is next level. You won't ever find a single bigoted action from me toward someone that I disagree with. Your loose use of sich a serious term makes you look childish and unequipped for a grown up conversation.

You think one of my closest friends doesnt know my view? He had the same views before this began.

Also I have never referred to them as inferior. That is garbage pulled from the crack you sit on. I have referred to them as my equal who has done nothing worse than myself....in THIS very thread. (Do you even read the posts here??)

Oh and your little rant about "black folks". My sister adopted two. They are my nephews. They are my family so shut the heck up with that crap.

My career serves the underserved. I live it. I don't just flex on a message board like you.

But since you have chosen to abandon a decent conversation, you can carry on without me. (Former poster claiming to be someone named "jo").
