Based on the current forecast, our game will be postponed. That said, it’s Omaha and the current forecast has changed in the 15 seconds it took me to type this.
Agreed @crescent_beach — Just looked at TWC for Omaha…I have found if you go to “today” on the forecast and then look to the far right and tap on “overnight” it gives the most accurate hr to hr I have found.
Possibly in excess of an inch of rain today and >50% chance tomorrow. Could be a long couple of days, especially for the teams scheduled to play tonight, 10-Day Weather Forecast for Omaha, NE - The Weather Channel | weather.com
Another site reports that Brandon Neely has thrown roughly 25% of the Gator innings in the NCAA tournament. 21 innings, 3 runs, 6 BB, 32 K's, ERA 1.29, 1 win, 3 saves.
Is that official? They have an "if necessary" day (Thurs) and an off day (Fri) built into the schedule before the start of the championship series.
With the exception of Neely, who has been fantastic, and maybe Jameson, our pitching has been not even close to “special” since Regionals started and to expect any different tonight is probably wishful thinking. Hopefully, Coppola can give us 3-4 innings and at least keep it close so we can mix and match our relievers the rest of the way. Neely threw 45 pitches yesterday (and 23 Saturday) so not sure we can expect more than one inning from him tonight so Jameson and some of the young relievers will have to step up. Despite our starting pitching being a fiasco, the team has done a great job finding a way to keep winning games against really good competition over the last three weeks. Hopefully we can do the same tonight.
Then we’d be in a double header on the if necessary day. Remember we have to beat TAMU twice coming out of the losers bracket. Guess they could push it to Friday, but don’t think they would, and that would still put us at a disadvantage going into the championship series. I’d rather just play today, though it’s sure looking like we’re gonna find out what happens if we don’t.
That's where a potential doubleheader day could hurt us the most. His stuff was great yesterday. Even got someone out on a wild pitch (that may have actually ended up saving us the game)
It was noticeable in the game he pitched against Clemson. His FB was 90-91mph instead of the usual 96-97 and he was using the change more than usual.
