For some perspective. And I'll continue to beat this drum. Regardless of the sport, good coaches have good players, and great coaches have great players. There are a handful of coaches, i.e. Jen Rocha, that are difference makers. But, I think they're the exception, not the rule. Gator Softball is fortunate to have one running their program in CTW.
Not sure if it was posted on here with the discussion of Williams earlier but she is already putting in the work. Playing in that Florida summer league for college. Hit 2 bombs in a game the other day. Follow the Twitter account for Gray Robertson who does the Bama podcast.
You only have to have watched her estimated 300 foot homerun over the scoreboard to know why the team will stick with her working closely over the off-season. Unfortunately she was this season’s softball version of Brody Donay. Let’s hope she will be next years softball version of Jac Caglianone.
I’m not selling anything. I don’t have any info specifically related to Dobbins. The job is definitely a grind, and people have definitely gotten burnt out though. Many before they even reach the heights Dobbins has.
I chuckled a bit, but Mia will have to improve quite a bit just to reach Brody’s level of production. I think she has a much higher ceiling though.
BTW, ufgtr77, I am aware of what has happened on the other side of your family and you have my sincere condolences.
So this new pitching coach just left a head coaching job right? Who were the top Bsma pitchers she coached while there?
Not that it means anything but nothing on her twitter page. Still all about being Memphis head coach. Perhaps this is why announcing a volunteer assistant coach has taken a back seat? x.com
It is kind of weird. Walton hasn't tweeted about it either. Or about our transfer pitcher... but for some reason Justin Mcleod keeps tweeting everything.
Not to be negative but a change like this can't be good for 3 sophomore pitchers can it? Especially miller, who basically changed everything that had her a top 15 pitcher out of high school. Seems to me another year for the pitchers to get used to what their position coach wants might hold back some development. I'm sure you guys can make me feel better about this change so fir away.
So you not buying it. So what, like it's your job that she has to report to. It's her life not yours. She has no obligation to you!!!!
It will be an adjustment but the timing is really good. And honestly I think it could be a very good adjustment with her history of working with pitchers. Cornell I think is the only lefty she worked with but they did well together. The case with Liv will be interesting but I'm sure they will get it figured out. A lot of these kids still also see their normal pitching coaches on their own time as well.
