There was rain in west Omaha earlier. Right now it is clear of rain and overcast. If you are paying I will go to Drovers sometime. Lol
Just ran into the dad of a current major leage 1b...kid was best hitter I've seen in HS since Greinke, could just hit anything. He's hitting 270 with a ton of strikeouts and only 315 OB%....but he hits for solid power. Dad said that's what they want, he's in the conversation for the all star game and that 270 is the second best average for a 1B in his league. Watched a Tiger game earlier this season and there were 6 or 7 guys in the lineup below the Mendoza line, 3 below 200. Hate the way the game is played now
Unlike most prime steakhouses, I think they give you a side and salad bar, so it’s reasonable for what it is. We had some friends go last year and they loved it. We went to spencer’s. It was fantastic, but a traditional prime steakhouse where everything is a la carte.
My pops was talking about our offensive woes one day and I was watching a rays game. I sent him the lineup and basically said it’s what the mlb is looking for. If you go 1-5 with 4k’s and a dinger, you’re good to go. Sprinkle in a walk and a hit every now and then and you’re an all star. This was the lineup that day, and I can see in my text chain with him that the rays also went up 3-0 in the first with this lineup, lol. The leadoff and two guys under .200 have been all stars. .250 .158 .294 .276 .290 .283 .250 .077 .168
No, you make some valid points and despite making appearances in Omaha the last two seasons, UF does strike out a lot. They have struck out 597 times this year which is about the same as LSU struck out last season (593 K’s) when they won the National Championship while also hitting 144 HRs. UF was runner-up last year despite striking out 569 times themselves (and hitting 146 HRs). This season, Tennessee is the top seed and has hit 177 HRs while also striking out 600 times (which is actually three more than UF). Whether you like it or not, baseball, both professionally and collegiately, isn’t about small ball anymore.
I hate having a guy on third with zero outs and then watching two k’s and a pop up. If your team is built to hit them out of the park, you’re gonna see it though.
I understand your points and they’re here to stay as long as analytics are as controlling as they appear to be. As I’ve said many times I’m ol’school and I cannot dismiss how I was taught to play the game. To be clear, I do not think that gap-oppo lines drives are by any means “small ball”…..you can be very aggressive at the plate without swinging “dead-red” or for the fences. I will always believe that if you’re aggressive at the plate and disciplined to hit it where it’s pitched—your HR’s will happen.
I was teasing them. Yes, they are unique in that and yes the food is great. Would never go there during the CWS though lol
That's my thing....just hit line drives and they will find gaps for doubles, some will get out. But seeing a guy like Kurland swinging the way he does in a LOT of his at bats I don't get. I guess I could live with one cut where he almost comes out of his shoes, but with 2 strikes I just hate it. He has only 8 doubles, 14 HR, 20 BB, 69 K's. For a 5-11, leadoff hitter 2B. That's just crazy to me.
Yep, it’s kinda like the guy that’s never been deer hunting before and somebody takes him and puts him on a really good stand. He sits there 10 minutes and knocks down a fine 8 pt……he will forever think there’s nothing to this….
Kid has some pop. He’s another big kid too. Doesn’t have the weight yet, but I imagine he’ll put some on between now and next season.
