Just watched it on your recommendation. It was very good. Some of the music was rather eerie.

Belgium has preserved some of the trenches from World War I. They are called in Dutch Dodengang, “Trench of Death.”

The First Omen ... worth a watch for those who enjoy a more cerebral horror movie over jump scares

Seen it recently…not bad at all.
Ending could have been better but worth a watch.

Saw it at theater. Was sufficiently creepy. Rosemary's Baby-ish.

Yeah, that's the one that came the mind. I always confuse the Omen with the Changeling in my head, so I was a confused about the prequel aspect for a minute haha.

Hit Man on Netflix ... not exactly what I was expecting given the title, but a fun time nonetheless.

Have any of y'all seen the HBO (I believe/IIRC) mini series "Rome"? Cancelled after only 2 seasons due to production costs.

    If so--rec/no rec?

    TY

Is the Changeling similar to Manimal?

Its definitely good, and the centering the show around two ordinary Roman soldiers was a smart move. RIP Ray Stevenson.

    Couple of movie notes:

I watched American Fiction. I liked it, but not as much as I thought I would. The acting and premise were great, but message got obscured for me by the end.

On the horror side, Bodies Bodies Bodies was pretty good. A caustic critique of the social media generation that delivers with its final reveal.

They really went for it on the ending. You have to admire that.

For a movie that got Oscar nominations, I've heard almost nothing overly positive about it

I thought it was a good movie but not what I expected since it was advertised as a comedy

I would recommend watching it but agree with GatorRade overall. Strong first half or so and a lot to like but my expectations were probably a little high going in.

Now that you mention it, that does seem odd.

We got Netflix to watch Hit Man. Definitely fun. We watched Linklater’s Apollo 10 1/2 too, which I also liked. A nostalgic labor of love.

Based off a review I read, they didn't commit fully to the scathing tone of the book, and it sounds like they were afraid to go all they way there in the end.

You got Netflix to watch Hit Man? It was good but not that good to subscribe to Netflix.
