Thanks, Gal for the play by play. I woke up over here in Chamonix and didn’t expect the game to still be going. Beautiful view as we go up the Aiguille du Midi. A lot of negativity negativity throughout the game thread. Guess that happens when we lose (or pretty much any time we trail, swing and miss, make an out, allow a walk, hit, hbp, etc. lol). Lots of World Series winning coaches in this thread.

hopefully we can win the next game. Been a great finish to the season so far and hope we can extend it.

We swung at probably 30 pitches outside the zone. Thats not negativity. It’s just the fact of why we lost. It’s still great for this team to make it this far

A moment that stuck with me -- Has Sully ever done anything like this before? I'm sure they weren't just checking out where the OF walls are. Peterson's probably the best Sully-Guy SP prospect since Singer/Kowar.

I've been wondering since the team turned it around if Sully adapted to the "new generation" or if "his old ways" finally worked with the players. This gives me hope that it's the former & that -- even if our boys are 2-and-Q in Omaha this year -- they'll reload and be back to try again next year or al least soon.

Per @Gatorgal04 directive earlier this year re: purpose of game threads, if this becomes a long conversation, she might tell me/us to take this to another thread and/or transfer it there herself... but I wanted to start with the game-thread quote.

Man, this was like every pre-2017 Omaha loss all rolled into one. Not playing great, but avoiding disaster to hang around, scrape a couple together, then come mere inches from tying the game multiple times in the late innings.

In his defense, blue was calling 2 inches outside a strike....didn't help we tried to pull it

SIAP but can anyone explain what took place in the UF dugout early in the game? Broadcasters were describing some sort of verbal altercation but I couldn't hear the volume very well.

3-2 against the 2nd best overall team in college baseball (from an analytics perspective). They have the 2nd best team ERA and the 2nd best hitting team and we kept them to 3 runs. Nothing to be down about. We knew once we got to the CWS that the gloves would be off.

every baseball team at this level and even MLB will have games they swing and pitches outside the zone. They may go through super long slumps for days or weeks. Even the greatest hitters and hitting teams of all time will do so. For over 100 years hitters swing and miss at bad pitching so I don’t get bent out of shape when UF does. Sucks to lose. But hopefully we bounce back big next game.

What an amazing game. Another 18 inches and it would have been an epic home run. I say 18 because their right fielder did not even jump to get his glove over the fence.

We are blessed to have Sullivan and such an outstanding group of young men representing us in the World Series.

You are what you are.....and this game certainly showed he good and the bad.
Bad- another slow start offensively and defensively, poor starting pitching performance(high pitch count, high era, short outing), huge number of K's, failure to move runners, Thomas situationally unaware and hesitates to get the runner at 3B
Good- continued to battle at the plate and on the mound, got enough baserunners to win, relievers kept us in the game, extra base hits

That's the epidemy of good pitching! Good pitchers don't throw you anything you can hit while making them look like strikes. I understand how frustrating it is to watch, but those pitches just look a lot different when your standing in the batters box.

Think the announcer said the aTm RF is 6'6". If he was a bit shorter, it's a homerun and UF goes up 4-3. Even though this happened, UF still had the opportunity to take the lead with one timely hit.

UF had to earn the right to be there taking out the 11 and 6 seeds along the way. Now, UF has to earn the right to stay there. Either way, I'm not complaining as I had given up on this team before the SECs and the playoff run.

Moving forward next year we have to address our strike out issues. Way too many. Yes we faced good pitching but this has been an issue all year.
Again, whatever happens in this series this UF team to be where we're at is simply incredible. Don't be surprised if we go on a winning streak starting Monday.

We battled, had several opportunities in the last three innings and came up short. Tale of the tape: 16Ks, 10 LOBs.... Some of the guys seemed overwhelmed by the moment.

Usually when ol’blue’s strike zone is on skates it creates discipline problems for hitters. Thank goodness our hitters are not effected by this….
