I think that Peterson is our Friday night guy.

I really like him. He has learned how to pitch and just not throw.

I know that Cade Fisher got a lot of crap on this board but if he can learn to miss off the plate instead of middle he can be a Sunday weekend pitcher. Then it is between Coppola and Clemente for the Saturday night guy unless we get a stud pitcher that didn't like who drafted him (can happen) or a portal arm.

I've been staying away from this one because its hard to tell how MLB execs will feel about the injury. I haven't heard much about the break. How clean it is or if he will need some surgery, any splinters, cracks, that kind of thing.

Injury aside I would think Evans goes in the draft based on such an improvement he had since he won his position back late last year. Its easy to forget his dreadful year at the plate most of last season. Then again, he is still the one player with the most HR in a single year CWS (5) in whatever bat era we are in. Plus he had a really good year this year, not only at the plate, but also his defense on the field. Don't forget he sat out the fall from injury as well. I remember the first time he played RF this past spring at practice, I had real concern about his speed getting to fly balls. It looked like he had a hitch in his giddy up. If I had to guess, I don't think he ever makes the big league but Ty is an overcomer and keeps proving people like me wrong.

Are we assuming Jameson is gone? Also, what about McNellie? Closer?

See my prediction on players in OP. I would say I'm leaning on him signing at this point.

McNeillie is a freshman. Not draft eligible. Jameson is a sophomore, but because he turned 21 last month he could try out the MLB draft if he wants. With only 1 year as a pretty good middle relief pitcher, I doubt he would get drafted and will more than likely be back for his junior year.

Yes. It just seems to me that Jameson and McNellie are ahead of Fisher at this point, so they should be considered for next year’s starting roles along with Peterson, Clemente, and Coppola.

Also, does anyone know what happened to Philpott? Seems like the guy just disappeared.

Hand injury from punching a wall after a poor outing. I have seen him with an elastic brace and with no dressing at all on his hand/wrist, so apparently not broken.

Jameson may not be back....but if he returns he seems perfect for that mid relief inning eater/mid week starter that he has assumed lately. Kind of what we hoped Slater would be this year.

Pre-season, I was touting Fisher as all-sec. Are we certain, he'll be back next year?

Would love to have Lindsay show up as he is a great athlete who can really run. At the same time, he is very much a projection-type guy as his tools are way ahead of his actual skills as shown in his hitting just .343 as a senior at Hardee High, which is far from a baseball power and plays a very mediocre schedule. Lindsay has always played football and now that he is concentrating just on baseball and because he is such a great athlete, scouts feel his game will improve rapidly but again, if the kid were to make it to campus (and I don’t think he will), don’t expect dominant numbers right away.

It’s probably a moot point anyway as Lindsay has had as meteoric a rise up the MLB draft boards as we’ve seen in a long time and right now it looks like he will be playing pro ball later this summer.

The only rostered players not in the Omaha picture are Martinez, Jones and Mummau which would suggest he's gone.

Edit: He has officially entered the transfer portal.

5 Gator signees, plus Neely & Shelton have been invited to the MLB draft combine.

MLB released the list today. Cags was obviously invited also but being a sure thing high first round pick, I’m sure he declined.

along with Cags, these are the only two current Gators that I was listed among the top 150 draft prospects.

I keep running down your list and I think Caden McDonald should be right under Rodriguez as coming back. I have no insider info but the kid flipped from UCF when their coach left so yes he might be a flight risk but since he is going thru TJ, I don't see him leaving until after he completes his rehab. That doesn't mean I think he transfers but given time he could be a key part of this team's future, not only as a RHP, but a good bat and 1st baseman.
