The details of this trial are pretty bad. Hunter Biden's defense team attempted to claim he was sober in the weeks leading up to and around the time he purchased the gun in question. Then texts between he and his brother's widow show that he was strung out on crack that entire time frame. IMO, Biden may have made it worse for himself by attempting to claim sobriety during this period, while the evidence shows he was clearly not sober. I think he would have done better to admit to being on drugs. It would have all fit. Bad decisions beget other bad decisions. He instead chose to lie in court about his condition during the time. That might end up being a difference maker in this case.

A real example of the two-tier system of justice. If any other drug addict lied on a federal firearms application about his drug use and illegally possessed a firearm for 11 days before disposing of it and had no previous criminal history he would have never been charged. Because Hunter is the son of the president a special prosecutor was appointed to prosecute him and most likely for political reasons said prosecutor a former US Attorney appointed by the Republican predecessor of the current president reneged on a plea agreement under the charges would have been ultimately expunged from Hunter's record. Although technically, the agreement was nullified by a Federal judged who was appointed by Trump, David Weiss the special prosecutor could have offered Hunter Biden a new plea deal rather than deciding to go forward with a full on prosecution.

Interestingly, in another case the statute under which Hunter Biden was prosecuted is being challenged on the basis that it represents an infringement of the Second Amendment.

Yep, if his name had been " John Q. Random" from Roasted Squirrel, Tennessee the case never would have been brought.

So when does the peanut gallery caucus in the house introduce legislation to disqualify Joe Biden due to his son being convicted?

does this mean that every person with an MJ card that ever filled out the same form can be prosecuted for the same crime?

Yep, even though that argument would have no merit as Mr. Random from Roasted Squirrel, TN was not the gop nominee running a national campaign for potus.

You finally said something that makes sense. Proud of you! This is just the beginning of potentially many Biden family trials and convictions. The laptop has now been publicly verified even though everyone at DOJ and FBI knew that prior to the 2020 election. Hmmmm
And just to remind many of you it was the weaponized DOJ that tried to cover up this and all other crimes by Hunter by offering the ridiculous plea deal. It took a judge with a backbone to call it out. Far far overreach by DOJ backfired.

Given that the charges were so innocuous, do you think it made sense for Hunter to attempt to lie his way through the trial about being sober during this time period? It was like that scene in Austin Powers where he claims the penis pump isn't his. Prosecutor pulls out a text message from Hunter during that time that says "crack pipes and guns. That sort of thing is my bag, baby," after his defense team claims he was sober.

So, you paid attention to the facts and evidence in the Biden trial, but not the Trump trial? Biden jury got it right, Trump jury corrupt?

Just to be clear this result, of course, is a deep state attack on Trump.

The goal is to get Biden out of the race by the lefties scared of Trump. Biden will now pardon his kid (from the hardship of probation i guess) and drop out of the race.

    - Signed Deep State knowledgeable righties

Since you think that the original plea deal was ridiculous please provide an example of a case in which a defendant with no previous criminal history was prosecuted solely for lying on a federal firearms application form about the applicant's use of drugs?

Unless I missed it Hunter didn't testify and none of the witnesses that did testify about Hunter's use of drugs never actually saw Hunter using drugs during the period in which he possessed the firearm. Not saying that the verdict was unreasonable considering Hunter Biden's history but he never did lie about drug use during the period in which he owned the gun.
