If she was going she'd be playing virtually non-stop basketball for like 10 months. She probably needs a break more than anything. Its crazy enough the WNBA started almost right after she was drafted, which happened weeks after the championship game. That's probably one of the biggest adjustments from college to pros, the grind of it all and the conditioning.

pretty much agree with everything above. All merit based and truth be told she isn’t one of the best right now. That being said, she’s close…. And there is little doubt that she would have brought massive ratings for the women’s games. I’m fine with it as is but would have understood if they did bring her.

so in a thread about Caitlyn Clark and interesting inputs on what influences basketball and the Olympics; out of the blue you bring up......Trump? with a complaint that’s all anyone talks about?

I'm not arguing, nor did I suggest that you denigrated her skills. I simply asked how many of her games you have watched, to gauge the extent of your familiarity with her game. Now that it's apparent you haven't watched many (if any) of her games, we might argue about the extent to which your opinion is based upon CC's actual basketball ability.

I never professed to be an expert in any of this and I was clear about it up front so I’m not sure the point of this discussion. You are trying to drive home a point I freely admitted from the start.

Having said that I have seen some season/career highlights on YouTube and I know she holds the NCAA scoring record so her level of skills is pretty obvious to me.

You are reading too much into my line of questioning. Again, I inquired as a matter of perspective.

She 100% should be going to Paris. This is a terrible decision for Women's Basketball. Not saying she should be going as a starter. But USA Women's Basketball is blowing a major opportunity. But it is par for the course so far based on the news that keeps coming out.

There is only one player in the World right now in Women's basketball that can sell a stadium out. One...

The one player that currently gives Women's basketball a chance to actually run a profit replacing the last bench player is not going to be the thought process that leads to a loss. But it would be the thought process to get more girls involved in Women's basketball. There is a reason she is the only player in the World that can sell out a stadium for Women's basketball...

Our coaching staff should not be making PR decisions. They chose the team based on fit.

    She will get her chance.

And there is no way that putting the most recognizable player in the World. The one that actually can sell a stadium out is not a fit for the team and the GAME of Women's basketball. Want to get more Girls involved in the game to compete to be the best. Put the player that will get them to watch on the team. And yes she is good enough!

Is she that popular in Paris? I mean she played college ball in the US. Most people in Paris dont know who Zach Edey is either. And pretty sure they will fill the arena for the olympics regardless of some unknown (to many of them) former college star.

This is the Olympics, none of that matters. There will literally be hundreds of other women to watch competing in all sorts of events.

It absolutely matters. This is a sport that could gain so much more attention if they added her. And she is absolutely good enough...

The WNBA does better numbers than some mens sports, they arent in a bad place. I wish people would just let things be what they are. As a fan of MLS, I hate that Messi gets shoved down my throat every chance they get. It hasn't done anything for the league other than make casual fans even more annoying than they already were. I'm sure the owners love that they can sell out football stadiums if he's in town and adidas loves the jersey sales, but that does nothing for the league long term if you make everything about one player.

Jersey sales, attendance and tv ratings have nothing to do with her not being a fit or needed on the team at this point in time. Although I don’t blame you for not knowing this since your ilk has only recently started paying attention to women’s basketball in the past month or so because Clark is the newfound darling of MAGA nation.
