My dad had a nickname at the race track of sandbag and his last name because he got a reputation for faking a slow car on some low money races in order to sucker some guy into a high money race then blow his doors off. I think "Sandbag Gators" is an appropriate nickname for this years team because they suckered everyone including the betting market into believing they were a wounded animal on death's door, then delivered a CWS team in the playoffs.
I gave him a bit of a pass on that one, because if he dives and doesn’t get it, that’s a triple. If you’re not 100% you’re gonna get there, you gotta keep it in front of you. I treat the cf diving at second about the same as diving at the line for rf or lf.
I would think that if the winning run touches home before the batter hits 2nd, it would be a single. But who cares!
Wow! Had to leave after the 11th for family obligation, just got home and watched the ending. Incredible finish, will be long remembered. Lot of heroes. Every starter with a hit. 20Ks and still won. Still can't believe Sully brought.Neely back for so many innings. Heyman, Shelnut, Thomas and of course Robertson for the win. Total team win. Road Warriors!
Normally yeah....but that run was meaningless in the 9th so the only tradeoff was keeping a DP in place. So to me the chance to record the out was worth the possibility of extra base
Ou softball slammed the bat down every time they got walked..they evidently were allowed to continue to do it
The hitter got a warning for the bat spike, and Jack Leggett came out and complained that we hadn't gotten a warning for a previous one. Jack Leggett is a college baseball legend and Kevin O'Sullivan's mentor, but he is now only with the Clemson program as a development advisor and is not currently an on-field coach. Therefore he is not permitted to speak with the umpires, so he was ejected. For some reason this sent Eric Bakich into such a frenzy that he decided to do all that performative crap and get himself suspended for Game 3. He doesn't have to worry about that now.
Yea, thanks. Was wondering why Leggett was even on the field. They had previously showed him in the stands.
Oh man, what a game. And as much as I love getting to Omaha as a favorite, it feels extra sweet to do it as an underdog. Go gators.
I know if it was me, I'd be lying awake pondering the difference it would make in my slugging percentage.
Not softball, and different umps. The Clemson player just got a warning, not an ejection, so the reaction of the Clemson coaches or wanna be coaches, was absurd. Play on. Fortunately for them, we cleaned the tiggers up, so it didn't cost their team.
Weren’t both benches warned after the brush up? The guy shouldn’t get another warning. If he does something that merits a second warning, then he gets the boot. So if the umps were issuing a warning for spiking the bat, I don’t understand that either. That whole sequence was kind of wild, including the retired coach stomping around on the field like a crazy person.
Over here in Europe and fell asleep following this thread in the 10th inning. Just woke up and picked up where I left off. Yay! We won!
I’m in Switzerland and did the same thing. I stopped watching in the 9th. I woke up and started reading the game thread. I don’t think I would have gotten any sleep if I stayed up
