There sure is a different level of anticipation (YAWN) watching these other SR games than there is watching our Gators…..Hell yeah, Go Gators, play your tails off EVERY PITCH or that’s just me
I've never performed a test, but I'd guess stepping from grass to artificial turf is as big of a change as stepping from grass to clay, plus visiting outfielders routinely test the feel and size of a warning track before a game. While most tracks are pretty similar, the differences are enough to give a minor home field advantage. It's the silly slope at Clem that is a bit too home oriented.
IIRC UF couldn't host a regional when they had the "hill" in left field because it wasn't a regulation field.
The option of hosting still was years away when they took down the hill. At the time, the story was that George Steinbrenner wouldn't bring the Yankees for exhibition games- it might have been MORE exhibitions- until the hill was gone. George was a big booster in those days and brought the Yanks to town to get $ for bsb. He also paid for the first lights at the ballpark. More than the hill and the lights, the terrible old wooden grandstand wouldn't have had enough seats for a Regional- it had maybe 100 seats. Even when they moved in part of the old south endzone bleachers, it was a crummy little stadium. Of course, it was nice to be able to bring in a cooler full of PBR.
I didn't see many game then but I do remember those days. I was an assistant prof and could sometimes sneak away for a couple of innings late in the day. Now I pay a crapload of $s for my seats.
Only students and people who don't go to games avoid paying a crapload of $, but it's a well spent crapload.
I used to sit first row behind home plate at the Mac because I knew a lovely lady that had the seats. After the move to Condron I sit seventh row behind home plate where scouts want to sit. I agree that it is well spent.
Yep, just hit another HR, up 15-8. Could be another slugfest. I'm sure they remember losing the early series in Gville.
They have a great hitting team and we're going to need solid pitching to beat them. Plus the offense needs to keep putting up crooked numbers.
Hmm..I don't like ut's coach...but I really really dislike the noles..so I guess I have to pull for ut...I feel dirty...
Ky punches their ticket to Omaha for first time ever. 3-2 over Oregon st, one of the few low scoring games in the supers. Beaves had 2 on in the 9th and looked at strike 3.
