Indeed, blowing through Peterson, Jameson, and Neely in one game isn’t great for our game 3 prospects. With Clemente, Slater, and McNellie, we definitely have enough to back up Cags today, but I wouldn’t mind it if Cags could give us 6 innings today just in case.
question for 74nole.......the swac's ace Arnold yesterday threw 121 pitches in only 5 innings(gave up 5 runs). What determines whether or not a pitcher can throw let's say 60 pitches in consecutive days or 121 in one day? It seems 121 is borderline excessive on an arm. All 3 of our pitchers yesterday threw less than 60 or less pitches.
74 has forgotten more about pitching than I will ever now.....but while 121 is a LOT for one day, 60 on one day and 60 the next is much worse. You have to also factor in pitches thrown in warmups and the soreness coming into that next day. There isn't one size fits all, but 60 on back to back days would be killer for just about anybody
I was at yesterday's game, met Cags, Neely and Sully after. The vibe I got watching the game and seeing the team was that there will be no game 3. I also love the Tigers(long story, 1B) but I don't see them being much of a threat to this team. My gut tells me the good guys end up taking down the bad guys(FSU) in the finals for what will be considered a miracle run.
