Although #13 in the last update, UF will climb into the top 10 with spring sports points to be awarded: Division I LEARFIELD Directors’ Cup Standings - National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (nacda.com) 23.24DI WinterOverall 4.11 (PDF) - National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (nacda.com) UF likely will get points for Gymnastics, Lacrosse, Softball, Men's & Women's Golf, Men's & Women's Outdoor Track & Field, and Baseball. UF finished #5 in the 2022-23 final Director's Cup. It will be interesting to see if UF can accumulate enough points to keep its top 5 streak going, not sure how many years now. Top 10 is assured which streak goes back to seems like forever, lost track of the years on this too. Help from anyone who has the information on the streaks would be appreciated. Edit to add softball.
We are at 985 or so as of now including baseball’s current place. In good shape for a top 5 if mouse does his thing this week.
I had it in the first paragraph as the lead, but edited it out only to forget to list softball with the other sports. Both UF and Stanford will get 83 points for their finishes at the CWS. Don't be confused by the cup points, UF will be ranked #3 in any final ranking after the WCWS is over.
I don’t think we finish top 5 this year. I think we just miss it. Of course I thought the same thing last year, so what do I know. lol
Women’s track has likely already locked up a top 10 with their 26 points today. And lots more points out there on Saturday.
ET.....Explain to me please why we don't get more points than Stanford for our finish in the WCWS. They went 2 & 2 and we went 3 & 2.
Final Director's Cup Points 2023: Final22.23Standings (PDF) - National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (nacda.com) Points Awarded for the WCWS: 1 - 100 2 - 90 3T - 83 5T - 78 7T - 73 Both UF and Stanford made it to the semifinal so both get 83 points.
We both lost in the same "round". All the baseball teams that lose this weekend will be awarded 9th place and split the points for 9-16th place. It is the way it is done for tourneys like SB, both BB's, Tennis, etc.
I hope so, but I think it may be hard for us to pass Tennessee among others who are currently at the top.
Tennessee doesn’t have lacrosse, and we will make up big points on them in track. Will be close, next update should be out next week.
Tennessee being ahead of us is a new thing. They also won the SEC all sports. We used to dominate both.
UT has always been very good, but they are definitely peaking. Interesting to see if they can maintain....they have really good NIL so its possible. That said, they appear to be maxing while we are right there on their heels despite lacrosse being the only program at uf likely to step back a little next year
Talking to a Vol neighbor today who was hopeful for the baseball team in Omaha but not optimistic. Was happy that their overall sports program has greatly improved in recent years but no NCs anywhere. Softball, sec champs but didn't even make OKC, same with basketball, etc etc. I commiserated with him.
