It honestly makes no sense. Even if someone wanted Napier fired last year they would hold that opinion because to them it is the path to success and away from failure.

Such a person could easily say the “keep Napier” crowd wants us to fail.

Just because two people have different views on how success can come about doesn’t mean either person wants the team to fail.

 

I don’t know man. I’ve definitely seen some folks awfully boastful about gator losses and firing coaches. Some people just thrive on negativity, and they want to be right so bad they will celebrate our losses. These are the same types of folks that complained during our title runs. They’re just never happy.

 

Conducting FMEAs to identify potential failure modes so you can design them out of specific functions, does not translate to predicting doom and failure and then digging up hypotheticals to support your preconceived bias against our coaching staff. Nice try but that dog won’t hunt

 

Is it the borrowed Spiro T. Agnew quote that flummoxes you or is it more a matter of the what the hell is a pillory? FTR, I was actually just agreeing that everyone has a right to an opinion while pointing out that we have a lot of fun telling each other just how full of shit we all are. I believe the direction this thread has taken only serves to buttress my point.

 

Except I'm not doing that. I have no preconceived bias and want Billy to succeed. Unlike many here over the past three decades, I do not root for coaches to fail so that they can get fired. I want every coach that comes here to be the best coach EVER at Florida, but when problems become prevalent, they cannot be wished away. If they don't want to discuss potential pitfalls, they can simply skip happily along in the hope of having a great season, and when that fanciful result doesn't materialize, they resort to scapegoating and finger pointing. On Gator Country, this is as true as the sun rising...

 

Don't know why but that made me laugh out loud. For me, I only care about the team- the players. The staff? When they make themselves look inept and by extension UF, they can hit the bricks.

 

You state that you seek out problems that may not even exist - and specifically related to Napier. To me that’s not particularly supportive of our embattled head coach

 

You do realize in many cases firing a coach leads to success much faster than keeping a coach

We all want to win. Our motivations for our opinions on the direction of the program are all the same. We want to win.

You get precisely zero extra Gator loyalty points for wanting a coach to stay or get fired. It’s neither positive or negative.

 

And you get precisely zero intelligence points for wanting to fire a coach every 2 years if he can’t turn a program around that fast. Impatience rules

 

Football fun. Worrying about stuff that may never happen, not fun.

Yep, I was a band kid and when it comes to the sports teams, generally remain positive. I do not, however, ascribe to the "rah yay team everybody let's be positive" edict. Telling everyone else how to frame their commentary is BS, imo.

 

Yet the sky is blue.

 

No matter what happens, CBN will be the coach at the START of 2025 season.
