Not really a TH topic, but I think most are unaware the Cricket T20 World Cup is happening in the US for the first time. Team USA comprising mostly of expats and rag tag players has traditional powerhouse Pakistan on the ropes and could pull off one of the biggest upsets in cricket history. Game is being played in Grand Praire Stadium, Dallas, Texas. Take a look at this catch by Steven Taylor of the US!!
Live score here if anyone’s interested: 11th Match, Group A, Dallas, June 06, 2024, ICC Men's T20 World Cup (Aaron Jones 0*, Monank Patel 50*, Haris Rauf 1/19, PAK vs USA live score, 11th Match, Group A, Grand Prairie Stadium, Dallas, June 06, 2024
Your post got me curious, but the link left me clueless: Two wickets in seven balls, removing the set pair. Haris Rauf first bowled Andries Gous with a length ball that took out the top of off, as Gous played a leaden-footed inside-out shot. Amir then had Monank Patel caught behind. But it's only brought Aaron Jones to the crease, who is rocking already.
Think of it as baseball on steroids (no, not that kind!). USA needs 24 runs from 16 balls (pitches). Should be easy if they keep their nerves!!
There are three versions. This is the shortest version - takes about 3 hours. The longest version (traditional) is 5 days.
USA ties it!! On to Super Over (OT) now! What a game! No matter what happens in OT, Team USA can be proud of this performance!
18 for the USA. No team with more than 17 in the Super Over has ever lost a T20 international (link: List of tied Twenty20 Internationals - Wikipedia)
Decades ago I went to Australia. Each day we would go to a bar or restaurant and the same stupid game was going on. Best I can tell the game/match etc never ends. They just take breaks at the end of the day.
