I mentioned the batters faced south wondering about any prevailing winds. My guess that could mean wind usually blows out to left if the winds come out of the NW but you never know in mid summer here in the south.
I guess this is partially on topic. And Ive been saying this for 5 years... Only problem is, we still get tourney ball in Omaha. Jim Schlossnagle suggests drastic format change to NCAA Baseball Tournament (msn.com)
Everything he says there makes sense, but I like the 4-team format. The 6-team format was great, but not sure playing 6 games over the span of 4 days is ever going to happen again. The current configuration makes sense because the format pre-Omaha matches the format in Omaha (4-team regional/2-team super regional)...just don't necessarily get to reset the pitching. Things like who is going to be the home team and not playing biased sound tracks or whatever is ridiculous. Let the host be the home team they are supposed to be; then go by seeding for home/visitor for the rest of the teams. Go GATORS! ,WESGATORS
How many 4 team or 6 team formats do we play in regular season.??... agree on the home team etc. easy fix if they wanted to
The 16 college baseball super regional teams, re-ranked Re-ranking the Super teams (all hosts ranked higher than non-hosts)... 1st Round Hosts: {1} Tennessee (3-0) {2} Kentucky (3-0) {3} Texas A&M (3-0) {6} Clemson (3-0) {4} North Carolina (3-1) {10} Georgia (3-0) {8} SWAC (3-0) {7} NC State (3-0) {12} Virginia (3-0) {15} Oregon State (3-0) Road Warriors: #3 Kansas State (3-0 in Fayetteville) #3 Connecticut (3-0 in Norman) #3 FLORIDA (only team to advance out of the loser's bracket) #3 Oregon (3-0 in Santa Barbara) #3 West Virginia (3-0 in Tooson) #4 Evansville (3-1 in Greenville) Go GATORS! ,WESGATORS
If they expand , you never know. And I agree if having a tourney, the more flavors the better. Unless its split brackets and never play half the field... some tourney soon i think does that for some reason(tv/$)
Best of three with breaks in between mirrors the regular season weekends but lacks the midweek game. You don't need a fourth starter ever. Four team regionals mean that a team MIGHT have to use their midweek starter. Maybe have a rest day when down to two teams in the regional. I say don't fix what isn't broken.
D1Baseball suggested a similar format last summer that was not especially popular on this board. The difference in their system was to expand the field by having the current #4-seeds compete in play-in games against teams that currently miss the tournament. The result was that current #2s and #3s woud play a best of three, while the current #1s would play a best of three against the winners of the play-ins. I especially liked adding more teams. Being a survivor of the era when Gators seldom got to bowl games or baseball postseason and never made the bkb tournaments, I know the joy that fans feel when their teams make that breakthrough. That opinion wasn't popular among posters who don't like to be bothered with the little people and unwashed masses. It also appealed to me as a fan of Sully era teams because it frequently would mean an extra home weekend for Gators.
Who's going down today (ESPN's numbers): 12PM: SWAC (-240) (gamecast) 3PM: Tennessee (-800) (gamecast) 6PM: North Carolina (-275) (gamecast) 7PM: Virginia (-375) (gamecast) Go GATORS! ,WESGATORS
It will be interesting to see if FSU can win another CWS title. It's been quite awhile since that magic 2008 season.
FSU might just win it all this year. Link has done an excellent job retooling his team. I'm heading back to Omaha again this year. Hopefully, our Gators make it back. Otherwise, I'll be surrounded by UT. I'll still wear some Gators gear regardless.
It looks as though the prevailing wind is out of the West…..more to the NW in the winter and to the SW during the summer. 2pm Saturday forecasted to be 3.4 mph out of the SW.
