A brief update on Layla Lamar from a news article in early April: Panther Creek's softball team defeated Southwest Wake Athletic Conference foe Middle Creek by a score of 15-3 on Monday night. The Catamounts' explosive offensive performance was driven by University of Florida commit Layla Lamar, who hit four home runs in four plate appearances. It gets rarer: Lamar hit a cycle of homers. She had a solo shot in the first inning, a two-run shot and three-run shot in the third inning, and a grand slam in the fifth inning. Lamar totaled 10 runs batted in on the night.
That’s pretty cool. I wonder if it ever gets boring playing against competition you outclass by that much. I definitely wouldn’t know, I was just trying to get my bunt down, lol.
Oh boy, what a fantastic voyage this season was. Heartfelt thanks to these amazing young ladies and the coaching staff for providing so much excitement, joy and entertainment this season. I’m beyond proud of this TEAM! No disrespect to our 2013 squad but this years team is the new number one in my heart. I’m so thankful our seniors got to end their careers on the right field I just wish they could have played a few more games. Saying goodbye to the seniors is always hard but especially difficult for me this year. I hope all the little future stars out there found their heroes watching our Lady Gators represent not just the university but the game of softball the right way. Our players should hold their heads high. They played with grit, passion, skill and with a love for the game and each other. They truly represented the best aspects of team sports. Maybe most important of all is they did all this with the highest level of class which is something some other programs out there could learn a thing or two about. Thanks again Lady Gators, we all love you! It’s great to be a Florida Gator!!!
Everything but the shortstop part. She is a good looking blonde who has a very similar frame as Skylar. She runs the bases like Skylar. She hits for average and power, just like Skylar.
It’s well worth watching. Skylar gets a bit emotional but both players are very well spoken about the experience and playing for UF. Walton speaks honestly and it’s obvious he has enormous pride and respect for these ladies and the entire team. It paints a picture that Florida has a great softball program and is a cool place to go to school. Skylar is a stone cold winner. I don’t watch a ton of softball but she has to be one of the best players I’ve seen.
I need a little help in constructing my travel ball obsession this summer. Taylor Shumaker has played for years on Batbusters-Stith. Townsen is playing on Texas Bombers 18U Gold. Layla Lamar is, of course, playing for the Lady Dukes-Lamar. I can't find who Red Oxley is playing for this summer and would appreciate a head up if anyone knows for sure. As for Gabi Comia, she has played for years on Beverly Bandits-Conroy, their premier team. She doesn't show anything on her twitter page and she is not shown on the current Bandit's roster I can find so, same question...does anyone know for sure. I'll probably be back again with more questions as I haven't nailed down our two 2025 recruits and have not started compiling who I think we will be going after starting Sept. 1 for the 2026 class.
Thanks. I need to go to Instagram more. That means she has moved to one of the always best teams in the country. Bolts-Rocky is their premier team. They are right there with the Batbusters, Mercado, Firecrackers, Bombers and a few others. Edit: Yep. I checked the Bolts-Rocky roster and she is on it. That's a strong move for her. I think she was on Unity last year and, while a decent team, not normally in the Thunderbolts level.
It wasn't that funny when it was actually happening lol.....the phrase "we'll also pick up more games" is etched in my brain
ONE HUNDRED POINT ZERO PERCENT...... 1) Class 2) Toughness 3) Refinement Skylar Wallace It is GREAT to be A Florida Gator.
