KSU/UConn worth a sprinkle too.
funny, the pairings in omaha usually go 1,4,5,8 in 1 bracket 2,3,6,7 in the other. look who is in the 2,3,6,7 side, 4 sec teams.
Not usually, that's always how the bracket is set up. In the first round 1 plays 8, 4 plays 5, 2 plays 7 and 3 plays 6. Works the same in softball and it's been that way for as long as they've been formatting it this way.
Looks like Clemson starts maybe 3 LHH. Have hit just over 100 HR as a team. Main 2 power guys are Wright and Obertop, each over 20 HR. They are only fielding 968 as a team so a few hard liners at their feet might get interesting. Hopefully with more RHH to face, our RHPs like Peterson, Neeley, Jameson, Slater, etc might help them have some strong innings. Doug Kinsmore Stadium is fairly small. It's 390 straight away, 360-365 in the gaps, 320 to the RF corner and only 310 to the LFC. The foul territory starts to angle in just past the dugouts and not much ground left in the corners. The stadium can hold just over 6K if you include the berm, with much of the seats in the OF. The main seats in the stadium only go about half way behind the dugouts, so a third of the crowd will sit in the OF (my guess). Batters face southward. All that to say, this it sure seems to be a hitters ballpark.
From their website... Doug Kingsmore Stadium has over 4,500 permanent seats, but is capable of holding 6,272 fans thanks to a hill area down the left-field line that is popular with the Clemson student-body. The stadium attendance record was set on March 6, 2022, when 6,636 fans saw Clemson defeat South Carolina 5-2 and finish the series sweep.
From the start of the season through May 16th (Thursday night in Athens), FLORIDA baseball amassed a 7-12 road record with an 0-1 neutral record. 7-13 in games away from home with exactly 1 two-game winning streak (LSU on Saturday and Sunday) back in March. After that opener the weekend of the Georgia series, FLORIDA just about had to win the next two games and give Georgia their first home series loss of the season if they wanted to just be eligible for an at-large bid. After that Georgia opening loss, FLORIDA has won 6 of the last 8, 4-1 on the road, 2-1 neutral site, and have their first 3-game winning streak since the February gauntlet (sorry 'gantlet' fans) of UNF and Columbia. Average RPI first 20 away from home games: 52.8 (12 top 30, 6 top 10) Average RPI of first 20 away from home games, just wins (and excluding UNF): 37 (6) Average RPI of first 20 away from home games, just losses: 44.9 (13) Average RPI last 8 away from home games: 17.4 (8 top 30, 2 top 10) Average RPI last 8 away from home games, just wins: 16.3 (6) Average RPI last 8 away from home games, just losses: 20.5 (2) (Disclaimer for @wingtee: just as the first set of road data was not a useful predictor of success of more recent games, we can't assume that the recent success is a predictor of future games, but it's still a fun turn around!) Go GATORS! ,WESGATORS
Yes - If Florida, Texas A&M, Georgia & Kentucky all win their Supers, they would be on the same side of the bracket. Tennessee woud be the only SEC team on the other side.
I can think of at least another 20 HR’s for our guys if we played at those dimensions…..that is assuming the prevailing wind is not blowing in
A couple of other things about their stadium is no warning track, all around the field they have an incline starting where the warning track begins and it slopes up to the fence line. Similar to our old stadium, not quite as severe. Could be an issue! A cool fun place to watch the game is there is an old double decker buss set up just outside the right field fence corner where you can go drink a beer and hoot and holler. Had two kids go there, wife also along with good friends of my kids who were big time players at Clemson in the day,...Brad Miller and Mike Freeman. Been to several games at Kingsmore Stadium.
@rball1313 — Excellent description of their ballpark. I’ve only been up there once—that was in 1973 for a 3 game series. I believe Bill Wilhelm was their HC back then. First time I ever saw white baseball cleats.
