Speaking only for me, it is really offensive that a DA would be determined to prosecute people who commit crimes, even if that person includes the highest of profiles. Shake my head at the audacity …
Yeah, here is what the article says: So your definition of focusing on him is not ending the investigation against him without reason to do so?
Desantis suspended a state attorney for being "soft on crime" and the deplorables applauded. NY DA gets touch on crime and the MAGA tears immediately begin to flow
If those are the mental gymnastics it takes, then so be it. The conclusion is infallible, we just have to find a line of reasoning that gets us there.
The conviction was just a couple of weeks ago, did you already forget? Or maybe you meant "What felony is he guilty of this week".
You are living in a fantasy world if you think Alvin Bragg is tough on crime. He goes after those he wants to go after. He is focused on white collar people, while letting all kinds of criminals run free in New York City that he does not prosecute. https://www.cnn.com/2022/01/06/us/a...strict-attorney-crimes-prosecution/index.html Among the crimes Bragg said his office would not prosecute: marijuana misdemeanors, including selling more than three ounces; not paying public transportation fare; trespassing except a fourth degree stalking charge, resisting arrest, obstructing governmental administration in certain cases, and prostitution. Misdemeanor offenses that are legally required to be given a “desk appearance ticket” will be offered diversion or community-based programs intended to help an offender, the memo said. The office may also decline to prosecute the offense. Bragg wants to “reserve pretrial detention for very serious cases,” according to the memo, and he intends to limit underage defendants in adult courts. Bragg also outlined a policy to request partially or unsecured bond in the same amount as cash bail requests. The policy reform plan has drawn ire from police union Police Benevolent Association, whose president said the organization is concerned about the messages these types of policies send to police officers and “criminals on the street.”
While I happen to disagree with some of Bragg's decisions regarding the non-prosecution of certain crimes I would note that all of those crimes are misdemeanors. The defeated former president was convicted of 34 felonies.
Falsified records in an attempt to cover up another crime (election interference). That's what the jury found Trump guilty of. By the way, NYPD statistics show dropping crime rates.
How else do you explain them pushing back against rule of law when it hurts people they agree with, and demanding it when it hurts people they disagree with?
Well, if you don't arrest people and prosecute them for crimes, then I suppose the crime numbers would go down. In a Lord of the Flies type of society, there is a low crime rate too.
Correct. No other candidate for POTUS has ever deployed the criminal justice system against his opponent for POTUS (as sitting POTUS or otherwise).
All the crimes Bragg isn't prosecuting are misdemeanor crimes. The report shows a reduction in serious, felony crime such as violent crime and property crime. Bragg is NOT stopping the prosecution for these crimes. Please explain how a stopping to prosecute for misdemeanor crime is the cause for a reduction in felony crime!
"Never underestimate Joe Biden's ability to @$%&# things up." --Barry O Doh! Biden breached the forbidden barrier....and has thereby unleashed a circular cycle of retribution that will define US politics for the remainder of the century, should the republic hold for that long (highly unlikely). In any event, for the foreseeable future. Y'all applauded this mess. We'll never let you forget that y'all essentially *voted* to usher in this new era. C'est la vie.
Not me. I voted against the ahole every chance I got. Blame goes to the Republicans for nominating and then electing such a deeply and obviously corrupt individual. You got what you voted for.
I guess you missed this the numerous times it's been explained on the board, but maybe hearing it from one of Trump's own attorney's will help: This is a state case. This is different than the [special counsel] Jack Smith cases," Tacopina said on MSNBC. "This is not a federal prosecution. Joe Biden or anyone from his Justice Department has absolutely zero to do with the Manhattan District Attorney office, they have no jurisdiction over him, they have no contact with him, they have no control certainly over him. So to say that Joe Biden brought this case is one of the most ridiculous thing I've heard. We know that's not the case and even Trump's lawyers know that's not the case. Former Trump lawyer says it's 'ridiculous' to say Biden was involved in hush money prosecution
Is the evidence for this in the folder with the Biden crime family evidence and the Trump healthcare plan?
