I wouldn't even have a problem with this. I'm not saying cities can't have more representatives than rural areas. So yes if you want to have a representative for every 1,000 people, every 5,000 people, then go for it. Because once again those people would be representing their area, not the entire state of Texas.

My point once again is for statewide positions where the person is representing the entire state of Texas, not just one area or one city or one county. Those individuals should have to win the majority of counties in the state to prevent Dallas, Houston, Austin and San Antonio from making the decisions unilaterally and all other communities never having influence over a statewide position again.

A Texas without the city of Austin wouldn't be a bad thing at all. Austin has become a cesspool to the state. Texas has plenty of other far more important industries. Losing a couple of big tech firms (and the liberals that come with them from California) wouldn't be a huge loss to Texas.

It works both ways, and like or not (everyone - not just you), both sides need each other. If farmers stop sending food, then the subsidies they get from blue areas are also going to stop. People from rural areas join the military in part because of a lack of local job prospects. The military gives them a career and skills they can use after they leave. If it was possible to wave a magic wand and wipe out all blue or red folks then the remaining society would eventually collapse.

In other Texas craziness. Amanda Marcotte's framing is provocative, but not inaccurate

No, the US is a democratic republic. You don't know what you are talking about. You're just trying to fashion the meaning of terms to your undemocratic agenda.

BTW, if my child were in a coma because he tried to kill himself a few days ago, I would not be debating strangers on a message board over the meaning of 'democracy' and 'republic'. Either you are a horrible mother who has no regard for her children or you are a phony and a fraud who should have been banned from here by now.

Wrong. The arrogance and the ignorance is just downright comical.

From the U.S. Embassy Website itself:

While often categorized as a democracy, the United States is more accurately defined as a constitutional federal republic. What does this mean? “Constitutional” refers to the fact that government in the United States is based on a Constitution which is the supreme law of the United States. The Constitution not only provides the framework for how the federal and state governments are structured, but also places significant limits on their powers. “Federal” means that there is both a national government and governments of the 50 states. A “republic” is a form of government in which the people hold power, but elect representatives to exercise that power.

Unless we are ready to abandon the House of Representatives and vote on every law directly ourselves, we are NOT a Democracy. We are a Republic. Accept it.

There is nothing I can do for him now but to pray. I can also continue on his legacy.

So you're smarter than the U.S. Government's own definitely of what system of government we have? It's right there for you to read.

I'm done with it. I don't know that this is OrlandoG8tor though. It certainly could be him but the tone seems different. I wouldn't be surprised if this was some former right-wing poster here like g gordon gator. That guy was the kind of freak who would do something like this. Whoever it is, they are pathetic.

How is this turd still allowed on here?

Seriously, mods, have a modicum of decency.

This grieving mother should not be subjected to this rigorous debate while her poor comatose traitor is laying right next to her.

Have some empathy and end her nightmare.

Not really that hard at all considering I'm 77 years old and moved to Florida to help with my arthritis. So I live in the townhome that he bought. And the hospital he is currently in is only 1 mile from the townhome in the exact same zip code so it's literally less than a 5 minute drive.

And yes I'm using his laptop since I don't have my own. Don't see why that's so weird to you.
