It figures we have an early 3 pm start after using most of the staff Sunday, but it is what it is Peterson started Friday against Nebraska. Would Sully March him out on 2 days rest hoping to get 50-60 pitches from him. Is Slater available? He reportedly twitched something against Nebraska Sunday. Jameson and Clemente are the next likely options. Any lefty options for spot duty?
Clemente maybe the obvious first choice. He had a rough outing against OkSt Saturday in which he pitched 0.1 inning gave up 2 BB, 1 H and 3 Runs. He should have plenty of gas if he pitches well. Jameson should be able to grind out innings as well. Robert Satin pitched Sat and gave up no runs on a 1 K, 1 BB and 1 H inning. Greyson Smith had a decent outing as well against OkSt on Saturday by pitching 2 scoreless innings on 3 Ks, 1 BB and 2 H. so here are 4 available pitchers as it will probably be by committee and who has the hot hand.
Clemente, McNeillie, Grayson Smith, Frank Menendez, Satin, Jameson, Purnell, Hunter Jones, Landon Russell
I would start McNeillie, then go to Clemente or maybe Russell if they could eat some middle innings, and try to close with Jameson
What I would do (which means nothing)… start Jameson since he’s been fairly consistent for us lately with the hope that he can go two innings, with also hoping our bats come out hot and give us some momentum. Would be great to have something like a 3-0 lead after two and then bring on Clemente or McNeillie followed by Clemente or McNeillie for 2-3 innings each. Then if we need 1-2 innings at the end maybe throw Grayson Smith/Menendez out there and pray really hard lol. Main reason I would start Jameson is because IMO he gives us the best chance to not start in a hole. It feels like if we start down 3-4 runs there’s no way we win this one
It is amazing how many runs we have given up in the 1st inning. We gave up 1 yesterday and started in a hole. Thankfully it was only one.
I haven’t heard anything yet but what I know about oblique injuries in baseball is there are three grades of oblique muscle strains. Depending on Slater’s condition/diagnosis or which grade of muscle strain he has the normal recovery time is 6 to 12 weeks. I know……
I wonder if Kirby McMullen has any eligibility left. I kid, I kid, sort of... Actually Nick Ficarrotta would have been useful today if he was still around. I have no idea what Sully will do today but we have to hope OSU has a few pitching problems as well. They are in much better shape than us but if we get to their starter early then we can hope their relievers have an off day as well. During the year we had a few promising freshmen that shined then faded like Philpott, Smith and Clemente during midweeks. That's what we need today so leave it to Sully.
Glad to see you are watching the team as it wasn’t long ago you were done watching them the rest of the season.
