Projection, projection, projection, projection. Has there ever been a bigger WHINER than Donald Trump? And his supporters and cult just eat his whining up. They would probably love to change his diapers for him.
What makes me scratch my head is the guy who told me that stuff is extremely intelligent, has an aeronautical engineering degree from one of the large California universities, is a very nice person, and is extremely generous. He and his wife over the years have fostered numerous kids. Somehow he got convinced of this stuff. He doesn’t preach it, but if somehow a conversation comes around to it, he throws it in.
Did anyone post this poll already? Trump verdict makes significant number of Republicans less likely to support him: poll One in 10 registered GOP voters said Trump's felony conviction for falsifying business records would make them less likely to support him for president, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll that closed on Friday. The two-day poll was conducted hours after a jury in Manhattan on Thursday found Trump guilty on all counts brought against him by District Attorney Alvin Bragg. The poll also found that a majority of Republican voters, 56%, said the outcome of the case would have no effect on their vote and 35% said they were even more likely to support Trump, who maintains his innocence. Even so, the potential loss of a tenth of Republican voters could decimate the presumptive GOP nominee's chances to win back key battleground states President Biden claimed in his 2020 victory over Trump. That year, just 44,000 votes in Georgia, Arizona and Wisconsin separated Biden and Trump from a tie in the Electoral College, according to NPR. Among independent registered voters, 25% said Trump's conviction made them less likely to support him in November, compared to 18% who said they were more likely and 56% who said the conviction would have no impact on their decision.
I’ve posted this here before, and it predates Trump, but it bears repeating given the number of people who would start a civil war keeping Trump from being incarcerated (which isn’t happening) and believe every grievance he airs reflects their own trouble in life, even if it doesn’t.
I’m curious where the information came from that said the 52 mil came from “first time donors.” That’s a shocking piece of information, to me.
Exactly. They are institutions that ultimately make a decision on their own - a jury or voting booth. Trump knows these will go against him because he is corrupt therefore he attacks them. Any entity that performs independently of trump, that calls balls and strikes or is required by their nature to act impartially. Another is the media. Ok his followers and “main stream media” but he (and then his followers) even started attacking Fox because they couldn’t keep promoting his lies. Plus they were liable for $100s of millions for reporting false trump info. If he is elected I wouldn’t be surprised if he goes after military leadership next. They report to him but swore allegiance to the constitution. Most are conservatives but also have integrity which is kryptonite to trump. They’ll have issues when trump, for example uses our army against civilians, or orders an attack on another country with little justification. They, like the rest of us know trump is unhinged. the military leaders that worked with his last admin later regarded him as “The most dishonest person”. And trump is getting worse.
So weird how the prosecution spent three weeks putting on their case without putting up facts, much less to support the law.
Posted this in another thread and adding the caveat that it's a single poll, anyone notice the difference in Trump's popularity before and after the verdict (from 538):
It was $34m overall with about $10m from first time donors. Nice haul but nowhere near $52m. That’s how much donated PAC money was spent on legal legal fees last year. nearly double the biggest day ever recorded for trump fundraising | TexAgs Donald Trump spent over $52 million in PAC donor money on legal fees last year. Here's where it all went.
A lot of it sounds “Sovereign Citizen”movement. QANON at this point I’m not sure is an actual thing anymore? Seems like it’s a term that’s become a catch-all to describe crazy conspiracy theorists, including those that were previously just broadly called “Sovereign Citizens”. It would take a dedicated team of psychologists/social-scientists to parse out all the different crap these people believe, so it’s no wonder in “pop culture” the terms get dropped interchangeably even if not truly accurate to the specific belief. You said you spent 30 hours looking at that friend’s claims to conclude it was all bs. Good for you deciding it was BS, but I bet a certain % of people that go down rabbit holes and spend 30+ hours “researching” conspiracy theories end up either believing somewhat, or go “all in” and end up confrontational with law enforcement (because under some of the crazier theories they actually start believing laws don’t apply to them or that there are legal codewords which can be used to gain immunity in a courtroom).
