WWII generation went from the great depression to fighting in WWII. America has been riding off their backs every since.

I did my best but only batting .500. My autistic 30-year-old son is living in our basement. His twin sister has already paid off her student loans, saved half a million dollars and was recently promoted to VP at the largest financial institution in the world. We would have more money to leave with them if we hadn't had to spend so much on him and will continue to.

We were born in the same year and my father left my mother for another woman when I was very young. Only saw him a few times a year after that. I wouldn't call him a worthless pos, but he was very selfish. I have been a much better father, though I have had my shortcomings as well. All we can hope for is that each generation is better than the previous one. I think blaming other generations for all the problems in the world is just silly. We are all just products of our time. If you could take a millennial baby and transport it back to 1954 it would grow up as a boomer and behave as boomers did.

There is a point that is being overlooked in this thread. If we adopt the presupposition that courts and juries never err (which is erroneous), and that a person is in denial of reality itself if they think a court of law made a wrong decision (which is also erroneous)...then that does create an interesting conundrum down the line if the courts at a future point in time end up overturning this or going after people for political corruption involved in this.

No doubt, the stance of many here would change if a Democrat official was on the other side of this 2-3 years from now. They would be singing a completely different tune. So, what we really have is a political tribalism going on where you need to agree with my political tribe because we have the power and we are winning politically. It is a political Darwinism of sorts. Might makes right. That is the political climate of a communist country. Communists control all the power, and therefore all of the political outcomes. Communists also control the press. So, communists are right about everything.

That is not the type of country we want to support or become, but I fear we have become a mirror image of our communist counterparts where truth is whatever the party, the government, and the press says is true.

My dad got my mom pregnant out of wedlock, married her shortly after, had five kids and raised us with firmness but also a tenderness you wouldn't expect from a Marine, setting an impossible standard that I still try to live up to. He now has 12 grand children and eight great grand children. He's still going strong at 93.

Courts do get it wrong, but generally where the defendant doesn't have the means for a proper defense. This is a former president and billionaire with access to the absolute best attorneys in the country, in what was a heavily scrutinized case with substantial media attention.

He had as much going for him as any legal defendant in history. He didn't lose because he was railroaded, he lost because the facts and evidence weren't on his side.

It's funny how everyone complains about crooked politicians, but when Trump is held accountable for being crooked, they suddenly change their tune.

All too easy to draw the pathetic nature of these people out. They can't even take a sec to step back from their seething hatred for a moment to realize how incredibly stupid they sound.

There are numerous Democrat officials on the other side of this right now. Robert Menendez is currently on trial for bribery. When a verdict is announced, we'll see if Dems and liberals behave as Republicans and MAGAs have. From all I have read, he should be convicted and he should get a jail sentence.

Here is the problem with both sidesing this: Republicans aren't making substantive complaints about the case. They aren't saying why the jury got it wrong based on the specific facts of the case or the law. They are just saying "rigged." That is likely because most people doing it lack the background or underlying knowledge to really criticize the case. They are just saying things to avoid the cognitive dissonance in their continued support of a felon.

Trump's one innovation in politics: the realization the there really isn't a limit to how far many on the right will go to remake reality in order to avoid cognitive dissonance.

    Enjoy the laughs.

Nothing will backfire more for Democrats than these charges and this conviction.

I predict a similar fallout to the Harry Reid filibuster situation. Celebration after the filibuster is eliminated followed by mass hysteria when Trump gets 3 SCOTUS picks approved by simple Republican majority.

Here’s the truth, when Democrats start getting indicted a whole lot more, they’ll have nothing plausible to say and nobody to defend them. Because like it or not, this is the new normal. And it’s ugly.

There’s nothing Democrats like more than changing the standards and rules, then screaming bloody murder when the new standards and rules come back to bite them in the ass.

In a venue prejudiced against him, a rabid DA out to get him who campaigned on “getting him,” and biased judge.

Where is this notion coming from that Democrats have committed all these crimes but Republicans have just been too honorable to charge them?

The House has been investigating Biden for two years. There was a special counsel to investigate his classified documents. Hillary was investigated thoroughly by the FBI for her email server. There just wasn't enough evidence to secure a conviction for any of those.

Nothing is going to change because there aren't uncharged crimes just sitting out there. It's all just bluster.

No, there's nothing right-wingers like more than false equivalencies and using a valid legal outcome as an excuse for 'retribution'.

How about Biden mishandling classified documents but that not being pursued essentially because he’s a senile old man? Trump is being charged under the Espionage Act.

How about Hunter Biden getting a sweetheart deal by his daddy’s DOJ, thrown out by a judge?

Crimes are happening on the other side. And sooner or later, they’ll find out exactly what it’s like having a rabid legal apparatus determined to “get you.”
