Even our homers have a tendency to go out of their way to not show bias. Not necessarily our homer announcers and radio guys (they're usually heavily in our favor), but the gator talking heads employed by espn, like Jesse Palmer, usually go a bit out of their way to not say many nice things about us.
I've watched it several times. That pitch was so perfectly in line with her swing plane. Probably a bad pitch to a lefty at any time, but it's a terrible mistake if you also leave it middle-middle. Glad Katie made her pay.
Take this for whatever it is worth or not worth but the Bama radio announcers said that the rumors are that Marissa Young to Auburn. Now that Duke is out, we will see. I said Auburn would make a play for her but not get her.
The worst is watching ESPN broadcasts of Florida Panthers playoff games against Boston and now New York Rangers. It’s like listening to a home broadcast for those teams.
I get the SEC is a better conference but leaving Duke for auburn? I guess if they offered a lot more money but still, she literally built that program and they ended the season in the WCWS.....auburn would be another complete rebuild and the path back to the WCWS is ALOT tougher in the SEC.
It's interesting to me that one of their daughters, Layla Lamar, is coming to UF and the other daughter is committed to UCLA.
This interview with Kenny G about his respect and love for CTW is awesome. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/o0QBO82krn4?feature=share
I would think that he would get better Medical care from Duke then from Auburn. So why would she move?
Agreed. And the most relevant reason why she would not make the move. All of his care through this horrendous ordeal has been through Duke Medical Center. I can't see her moving at this point for that reason and that reason alone.
I fervently disagree with the official scorer giving Katie a hit on that play. It was smoked and in some other situation I would score it a hit. But you do not, as a competent official scorer, take away a no hitter on what is a debatable call. In fact, if this is a competent scorer, they will go back and change it to an error. He has the authority to do that and it is the proper call.
No matter what happens tomorrow I'm so damn proud of this team. This is just the beginning and I cant wait to see what the future holds for the team and the new comers coming in.
Skylar, I'm sure he already is but make Patrick Murphy even more sorry the day he decided to make you a catcher. Go Gators.
In regards to Kistler's base hit in the 5th inning. It was indeed smoked. That, barring a look what I found grab*, was 100% a base hit. I'd guess the WCWS Official Scorer has scored hundreds of ballgames in the past. Maybe it's the OKC Spark scorer, a WCWS staffer, or an OKC sportswriter. Regardless of who it is, they should let every play stand on its own. And for the sake of the debate, lets say you score it as an error, and then Wilkie does the exact same thing. Then what, a second contrived error? It's the equivalent of NBA officials swallowing their whistles in the last five minutes of a playoff game. Which has always baffled me. * Go watch the Wallace 78mph laser to third base in the 4th inning for reference.
Hope UF beats bama to get into the final top 4, but the season will end with a loss as no way can the Gators beat Oklahoma or Texas. I'm happy with what this team accomplished this season, but I'd like to see the Gators send the tide home first.
Nope. I've scored over 1000 games at various levels. There is an unwritten rule among scorers that you don't take away a no hitter late in the game on a call that can be debated. In this case almost ending a run rule win. As I said, I would score that a hit in other situations, although it still could be debated even then. Playing hypotheticals isn't, or shouldn't, be a factor.
Interesting interview with Heather Tarr. She seems blindsided, hurt, and not happy about a lot of things: UW’s Softball Coach Heather Tarr on Program and Transfer Portal - Softy & Dick Interviews | iHeart
