Well, a trial was needed because he plead not guilty, and then insulted and attacked the system, the prosecutors, judge and witnesses.
Add Al Franken who was effectively forced to resign by members of his own party due to sexual assault allegations that were not even as egregious as what Trump has been accused (and now found liable in court) of.
Not a lawyer but I can provide some answers. 1. No, it is not in general illegal to pay hush money. The issue in this case is that somebody paid it for him as a form of a contribution to a campaign, which, because it exceeded $3,300 and was not reported, made it illegal. Then, they tried to hide the repayment, which would also be illegal (you are not allowed to pay somebody back for a political donation). 2. I believe the invoices were due to his instructions, but I am not sure on that. 3. Every false document produced is an additional crime the way the statute is written. 4. Not sure on this one. I think it likely has to do with how his finances are set up, I don't think he cleanly delineates his personal, business, and foundation accounts, but, again, not really sure on this one. He definitely has gotten into trouble for that before in regards to his foundation. 5. No, there likely wouldn't have been one. He tried to cover it up and got caught in the cover up committing crimes.
Speaking hypothetically since I'm not a resident of Maryland and although I respect Larry Hogan and wish there were more Republicans like him I would not vote for him for a couple of reasons. First, if he is elected it would virtually ensure a Republican majority in the Senate and although Hogan himself may not be a MAGA Republican the chances are that a Senate Republican Majority Leader would be full on MAGA. It means that if Biden is reelected the hypothetical new Republican majority leader could block the confirmation of Biden's judicial nominees especially SCOTUS nominees as well as Biden's other appointees requiring Senate confirmation. Similarly, if Trump is elected it means that all of his Federalist Society selected judicial nominees would be confirmed as well as his very likely cabinet and other extreme executive appointments.
Everything you just posted, for me, empahsizes why it is so important this person does not get elected. He will rip apart the constitution, declare himself a dictator and will begin his "revenge" promises he has uttered from his own mouth.
Doxing is a lefty thing? Trump Supporters Dox Georgia Grand Jurors After Fulton County Indictment Trump supporters post names and addresses of Georgia grand jurors online I have little doubt that they will do the same to the trial jurors in NYC if they somehow obtain the identities of the jurors and given that Trump was actually convicted of multiple felonies the harassment and threats that they could receive would be far worse than whatever the grand jurors in Georgia experienced.
No … I agree that if Trump was truly the morally outstanding character his Trumpeteers believe he is, and if Trump truly cared about the well-being of our Country, he would step down and let someone take his place. And I agree that Trump bears none of those traits.
A few days ago, a poster started a thread stating that because of the (over-stated) size of the Bronx Trump rally, it looked to him that NYC (and thus NY) might flip to Trump. Watching the City-wide celebration last night out that, er … “optimistic” theory to bed.
it is funny how quickly it went from 'New York loves Trump!' to 'Trump could never get a fair trial in New York, they all hate him!' BTW, I'm not a fan of the celebration.
Trump's popularity in New York is conditional based upon preferred outcome, apparently. BTW, here is the thread: New York, New York
Lauren Boebert has more concerning issues to worry about, like how she is getting her ass handed to her currently in Colorado. She isn’t getting reelected, lol.
